How many from the current crop would get into the 2019 playoff-winning side

  • Ask me at the end of season, if we keep winning and end up in the top 2, I might have to change my mind.

  • AMB over Phillips even?
Was Jed Steer, the keeper in the first half of 18/19, better than both?
  • Imagine if we had those Gilbert corners back in 2019.
  • Dare I bring this back up? I think our whole back 4 gets into the side
  • Jones and Ramsay are comfortably as good as our best players in the 11/12 and 18/19 teams.

Plenty of others could have played big parts in those squads. Green, Wagstaff, Hollands, Matt Taylor, Reeves, Parker, Purrington, Solly (18/19) etc weren't Championship quality but they didn't need to be.

What's missing from this team is one or two real stand out attacking players. 11/12 had Kermorgant, 18/19 had Aribo, Taylor and for half a season Grant.

Big credit to Jones for getting us to this point, it's a real team effort without that attacking player or two who can be relied on to regularly change games.
  • Phillips
    Jones
    Bauer
    Bielik
    Ramsay/Small
    Coventry
    Cullen
    Aribo
    Edwards
    Taylor
    Campbell

5 this year, 6 for 2019though I can see arguments for a couple either way.
  • Just came up in the ongoing playoffs chatter on the other thread.

So how many make it in now?

I still think the 2019 team are the better side overall and would probably beat the 2025 team fairly comfortably. The 2025 team have gone up significantly in my estimation though!

  • Phillips, Dijksteel, Bauer, Sarr (Pearce 45'), Purrington, Cullen, Bielik, Pratley (Williams 71'), Aribo, Parker, Taylor. Subs not used: Maxwell, Solly, Lapslie, Forster-Caskey, Reeves.

I think that side has room for Ramsey, Edwards, Jones, Coventry, TC, Small and Godden. That's six out of eleven. Gillesphey, Docherty, Mannion and Berry would make the bench.
  • simply none.
  • Possibly Aneke or Godden over Parker but other than that, none.
  •                               532

                               Phillips
    Ramsay Bauer Jones Lockyer Small
                       Cullen Coventry
                                 Aribo
                         Leaburn Taylor

I think that team would be competitive in the championship potentially.
I'd have Godden over Leaburn any day of the week.

You’d have Parker over TC, Purrington over Edwards, Pearce/Sarr over Jones, Dijksteel over Ramsay?
