Gillesphey's Diagonal Punt

He's not the best, but he tries and he's likeable... which is a lot more than I can say for some of the players we've had in recent years.2

They really aren't. We really wouldn't be keeping 15 clean sheets if they were both bad keepers. If they are Championship standard keepers is problematical but for a discussion in June.
Do you watch the highlights of other keepers in league 1 or the mistakes recently by our opposition glovemen?
The weakness is in the midfield which is a difficult job as they are involved so much. Coventry's game has gone up a level since there has been an obvious change of tactics with the attacks down the flanks and passes made out wide but I focused on Berry against Barnsley and despite running his heart out he struggled to strike with any power, got knocked off the ball too easily and was off the pace all game.
The wonderful brace earlier in the season has vanished from his game.
Anderson is still a work in progress but has great stamina but needs a better touch on the ball.
Game of opinions as proved when I see some bizarre individual scores on 'Lancashire lads' thread.

The thing is since the upturn in form of the team we don't see the endless long diagonal punts much anymore2

He’s a good player. We wouldn’t have the goals conceded and clean sheet record we do if he was as bad as some were calling him.We just always need a good scapegoat and he was the pick up until very recently. Mad how a couple of goals, even just from a defender, can change opinions.
Don’t get too high or too low applies here too.3 -

That just isn't true over the whole season.
You are saying they are the weak links in the team and I disagree.
That's fine, that how a football forum should work when 99% of the members on CL are Charlton fans or critics.

He’s a good player for this level, would need upgrading if we went up but would then become a good bench option. Has a mistake in him but that’s why he’s in L1. Seems a nice lad too and clearly loves being here0

He’s our Newcastle Naby.3

….and that’s really all he’s got in his locker.
lacks pace and cost us today. I’d play Edwards there, Mitchell on the right of the 3 and Ramsey and Small as wingbacks
unless we can suddenly sign a left footed CB in 2 days0 -

I'd saying he's being the 'best version of himself' atm and that's all credit to him and the staff2
-
Massively improved over earlier in the season, he's now defending really well and has cut out the howlers.
I doubt there's a better defensive core than Ramsay, Jones and Gillesphey at the moment in L1, considering that we've let in just 1 goal in 5 games, and that was a "worldie" from 30 yards.3 - Sponsored links:

Abit concerned that Macca said in a club interview he doesn't practice shooting. With TC out and penalty shoot outs in play-offs he needs to practice0

5 goals and 5 assists from Centre back is some achievement. One of my favourite players.5

I don't think I can believe how good he is now. I don't think even he can

I’m taking the credit for his incredible turnaround. Ever since I voted him MOM against Peterborough he has turned into the second coming of Bobby Moore.
