Gillespheys' Diagonal Punt

I have alittle side bet on how long in to the game it is before Gillesphey does his diagonal punt forward. On Saturday it was 7 mins 58 secs. Unusually it wasn't too bad a ball.
Best I've timed is 12 mins and that was to nobody.

  • I suggest in honour of this thread there should be 1minutes applause when he does the dreaded punt. Or an ironic cheer.
  • Great name for a quiz team
  • Or a new chess move?

If we kick off it's a guaranteed 3 seconds
  • I know he scored with his head on Saturday but defensively he has a fifty pence piece shaped head . Those long balls are pretty pointless also .

All goals are gratefully received but there are no circumstances that would make me think he meant that lol
  • He picked me out beautifully,   in the west upper loo .
  • His diagonal left peg, is the same as his ability to head the ball, useless, which best describes his ability! 😞

Looks like he doesn't enjoy heading the ball, particularly when it's a lofty one coming down hard. (Oo err).
  • Our style of play is horrible to watch but in fairness to NJ, Edwards long diagonal from just past the half way line did get us our first goal on Sat.

If you keep doing it every week you will get some joy eventually.

  • Nabby Sarr used to put over a lovely diagonal ball . No point in doing it when you’ve got two strikers under 5”10 though .

    Or a prog rock band...

*EDIT* Just seen I have been beaten to it by Scoham on another thread.  :D
  • Well he is a Waste-of-Time Lord!

No he bloody did not! I reckon probably 1 of every 50 came off which is only ahead of Llera’s 0 in 5,000.

He definitely did, or at the very least meant to head it back across goal, it's what every player is taught to do in that situation
  • I think this thread needs to be taken down immediately.

Fancy giving away our tactics before a game. There was a Southend fan on here yesterday. If he reports back then that's Saturday's game lost in an instant !

    Nonsense
  • Leave the guy alone. He the best technician in the club after all…..

    no, me neither.
  • The position of the apostrophe is what's sending a shiver down my spine. It suggests a collective of Gillespheys sending long diagonals. One is enough.

TBF there's a lot of trigonometry for him to calculate.

Miguel Llera too, for all his other faults.

With the likes of Leaburn, Aneke, and Ahadme to hit with it, or balls down the channel to TC, having some quality distribution from left centre back could be a potent weapon. Gillesphey thinks he has it in his locker, which is why he keeps trying it, but he is deluded.
