Cheltenham festival 2025

1.20 I’m going with Hello Neighbour as one for the Irish. I think the two at the head of the market are rightly there, and unimaginatively I’d have East India Dock of those two. Gibbs Island an interesting longer odds shout.
Selections - Hello Neighbour, Gibbs Island (both e/w probably)
2.00 Sticking with last year’s winner Absurde. Daddy Long Legs is interesting too, and Pinot Gris as well. If I had to pick two, it’s the first two
Selections - Absurde, Daddy Long Legs (both e/w)
2.40 ohhhh, I don’t know. I think anything could happen with the market principals so I will have a very, very small tickle on Royale Margaux - who seems to like Cheltenham - at huge odds.
Selection - Royale Margaux e/w
3.20 this is a really tricky race to call and I’m going for Derryhassen Paddy who seems a canny choice - am I slightly inspired by the name? Yeah a bit, but this stamina test should suit. I think that Fishery Lane and Jax Junior are both big shouts at huge odds - the latter is backed by Nick Luck, so DP and JJ it is for me.
Selections - Derryhassen Paddy and Jax Junior both e/w
4.00 Galopin des Champs. No reason to oppose. If you want to go for a longer odds shot then Corbetts Cross.
4.40 Willitgoahead is just about where I’ve sided, but this is a race that the market seems to have covered super well. I think Fairly Famous is worth considering, while the head of the market are just too short in the betting for me to want to pick one. It’s On The Line would be the choice of that one and Angels Dawn. I’m looking at the triple figures though and will have West of Carrig, Haven’t Time, and D’Jango on my slips for tiny amounts to spring a shock. If just one of them wins then my festival is basically saved, and if none of them do, no real harm done! D’Jango is probably the weakest of the four I’ve mentioned though, so three listed below.
Selections - Willitgoahead, West of Carrig, Haven’t Time (all e/w)
5.20 I think Kopeck De Mee wins this handily, and will bet accordingly. I think Raglan Road appeals at a decent double figure price, and Karafon too. However, nothing big on these. The first two are my choices.
Selections - Kopeck De Mee (win), Raglan Road (e/w)

Yesterday was nearly a blank slate though so I'm advising everyone to ignore me2

Whee - 25p each way on Poniros at 150/1, a last minute impulse bet. Nice. Also had East India Dock to win and Gibbs Island and Blue Lemon EW, so I'm not that clever.3

who has Poniros?
I didn't place any bets here so didn't lose any money as definitely wouldn't bet on that one!0 -
Tony Bloom is one of the shrewdest punters around but the fact that Poniros went off with a Betfair SP of 225 suggests that he didn't have that much on!0

Absolute madness0

1 million pound 😂😂 ITV 7 falls at the 1st.
Tony Bloom's Midas touch strikes again with 100/1 novice.
From nearly 500k punters to 100 Brighton fans and 84 Grannies who use a pin left in the above 🤷🏻♂️

Mullins was asked if he thought Bloom would have had a bet on Poniros and he said 'Not on my advice!"4 - Sponsored links:

Hindsight and all that but Sporting Life's write up certainly didn't write it off especially when one takes into account that price tag
"A useful handicapper on Flat (stays 1½m) for Ralph Beckett this summer. Changed hands for 200,000 gns in October and he brings a lot of potential to this sphere. No forlorn hope for top connections."0 -

My worst Cheltenham ever had 1 winner and a place all week. Went the 2 days for me the place has massively lost its appeal racing is poor quality too many people there concerned on getting pissed up and shouting football songs, shame as used to love going. The Mullins having over 50% of the runners in most races is also boring.0

I haven't been for a few years now for the same reasons.0

From the ridiculous Poinros 100/1 to the sublime Kargese 3/1.0

When they supplemented the horse, they knew exactly what they had.2

3/1 for the GN now, as short as 5/2.
Can he do a Golden Miller - 91 years ago?
Will he run?
