There is a programme available on Racing TV about Daryl Jacob. His GN win on Neptune Collonges features heavily in it as does his recently departed owner, John Hales.

Jacob recalls that Hales had announced, prior to the race, that this was going to be NC's last race - "the last thing John said to me was 'I love this horse so much that, if he's not enjoying it, please look after him and pull him up' ". Post race Hales was asked if he would carry on racing NC. His reply was "nope, that's it". He just loved his horses too much. Hales then asked his wife to book a table at the hotel. They said "we've got tables for 4, 6, 8 or 10." "Er no, we'd like one for 52 please."

Hope he's looking down right now.

It was noticeably less busy yesterday, no queing really at all. Lovely.

Bob Olinger - 4 runs & 4 wins at Cheltenham. Meanwhile Gordon Elliott probably wants to know what he has to do to win one at Cheltenham - 36 runs and counting so far this week. At least he's had a couple of winners at Limerick today!

Flights were £60 and the hotel was £40 I think, so it was cheaper than just the train to Cheltenham from Paddington let alone the £90 ticket and £8 pints

East India Dock is going to either set the day up for some of us or leaving us in the poor house! Shearer, so Paul Nicholls says, has been his only ante post bet of the festival.

A man has to do something to maintain income in retirement!

They may be duff tips but they are my duff tips that have carried my shilling. I've done ok so far this week though, but it won't last.
