Club are looking for a new Head of Recruitment.

Interesting role really when we have Jones as manager. I assume it would be a similar set up to when Bowyer and Gallen worked together. The new Head of Recruitment would likely do a lot of the negotiations as well once they’ve got the all clear from Jones, making Rodwell’s role slightly more redundant, especially in the transfer market.

Not sure on that. Think they’re more likely to be in charge of the scouts/analysts and then doing some scouting themselves. Think you want your financials slightly separate to a Head of Recruitment, someone who handles contract renegotiations too

We should be making two lists of targets for season end.

Hope Phil Chapple gets the gig.

Proven track record, works well with Jones, has added bonus of being a former player as well as head scout for Powell's 2012 side.

With your insider's knowledge Henry, is there a possibility that Phil Chapple would apply or is actively seeking new employment🤔🤞🏻

No idea, just seems that Jones gets a big say these days, his agreement should be key and Chapple ticks a lot of boxes.

Whoever is the new H O R, he'll need to be an I T whizz. Seems the emphasis nowadays is collating stats on every player possible as much as having a potential recruit 'scouted' and assessed actually playing football

The way of the football world now, Lincs. Brighton, who most would agree have had a pretty good recruitment strategy over the past few years, use it extensively (traditional scouting as well).

This might be an odd question, but if our academy has enough identifiable talent for our needs already acquired in house as it were, would a head of recruitment have much work to do?
Would they end up scouting in order to recruit into the academy?

Will never happen. No competitive team in the world has a team of academy players let alone a whole squad. Even then you would need to recruit for when players leave, pick up injuries, don't develop well. We also do have academy scouts, who will I'm sure recruit into a head of recruitment

The job description I shared above mentions recruiting for the first team and u21 squad. Below that is presumably handled by the academy themselves and their own scouting setup.

If Jones keeps improving us then we won’t need 10 signings every summer.

With the 888 plan and the Head of Emerging Talent and Head of Academy Recruitment (two other roles mentioned in the job description), it’s clear there’s still a big emphasis on bringing academy players through.

    Agree

It doesn't have to be either/or

We can bring through good, talented youngsters AND recruit good players from elsewhere.

It would be foolish to rely on just one of those.

Even the Man Utd Class of 92 side, possibly the best example of winning with kids as Alan Hansen told us, had only five or six youth products, the rest of the treble winning squad were recruited from other clubs.

Brighton owner Tony Bloom owns the databases that seem to 'know' everything about every football player on the planet.
Hard to believe, the only other club (so far that I am aware of) to have access to the database is Grimsby Town.
Jason Stockwood, one of the Grimsby major shareholders, founded and runs companies in the database sector. I believe he has a connection to Tony Bloom, hence the access to the player database
Grimsby are doing pretty well this season and have signed some good players. Seems that in depth, data driven research leading to recruitment pays off

Would be surprised... If he's surpassed 4-hours of watch time in the last year then he will do, as he's got the 1k subs

Pass those two requirements on YT and you get adrevenue

I'd not mind betting when Charlie boy was over there setting up this relationship with Mount Pleasant, he had got this position lined up.
