Maybe all the money spent behind the scenes is working..If you are referring to Methven as a minority owners and other members of his SMT, I don't think feelings have changed at all.
Speaking for myself I think that they have yet to prove that they earn their wages. I remain unconvinced there is a viable financial plan for any division.
Like every fan i hope for promotion. I also hope that promotion will allow the current SMT to realise whatever profit they need to jog on and allow us to employ senior staff who demonstrably earn their keep and move the club on to a higher level in the championship and beyond.14 -

Some real pathetic attempts at goading on this thread.
Charlton are winning and looking likely to end the season strong, but people are focused on, or still want their 'got ya' moments. Are you happier that Charlton are doing well, or are you happier that your view may be correct on a footballing forum? That question is aimed at whoever may feel it is aimed at.
The ownership still needs to do more, the management structure still haven't done enough. Jones, the coaches, and all individual players improving get the credit here, not the suits and ties.

Just for once I'd like to see what happens when we let a manager try to work through a problem, rather than just sacking them and hoping the next person in does better.
Just for comparison it's worth looking back at what Wycombe fans thought of Matt Bloomfield at the start of this year:"I'm gobsmacked so many want to stick with him still. His record is awful, I want to say worst of anyone since we've been a league club, but I'm not sure, but can't be far off."
"I'm not vociferously Bloomfield Out but if there was a magic button to get rid of home without any financial drama, then I'd press it. It's not even the results for me, it's the tedious nature of the football... Previous managers have gone for lesser losing runs and entertainment reasons."
Their board stuck with him and now they're top of the table and the top goal-scorers in the division. He's on a 5-game winning streak and being linked with jobs in the Championship.
If we were winning under Jones everyone would be loving the "passion, commitment and work rate" and forgetting the rest.
It's no coincidence that the last time people say they enjoyed watching Charlton was in 2019 under Bowyer and before that 2012 under Powell.
Neither of them were or are tactical geniuses - ask fans of other clubs they managed about their tactics and they'll tell you it was poor, because they didn't win.
Ultimately, win games and every football fan can trick themselves into believing the football is good.
People don’t care. If you win.

Retrospectively, most people aren't too bothered if we win. In the moment, they absolutely are.

“Deserved win” “superb second half” “I like the application and desire”
Similarly, I read that I chose a “bad game” to reference against Bolton because it was our “best of the season”.Was it? How did we play any differently? Nathan Jones didn’t set us up to be all conquering ball playing maestros for one match and then abandon it. The tactics would’ve been the same, or very similar, as usual. We all enjoyed it because it produced a result.
What point are you making here Callum? As I’m not clear. It feels like you are defending Jones, his style, and his outcomes merely for the sake of being contrary.Do you believe in his tactics/ philosophy and do you think he will succeed?People see negatives when we don’t get results and they see the positives when we do get results. Ben Garner set up with the opposite style to NJ (surely this is the type of manager we want if we want attacking football) and still got panned by fans - because we stopped winning games. There is no right or wrong way to play football and only results tend to matter.
And yes, I do believe that the way Jones intends to have our team play can get results and can be successful. It’s not been so successful lately (over a period of less than two months) but I’m willing to give him more time.
2. You're right about us losing, I don't like it when we're not winning.
3. You're completely wrong about style of play. I hate this turgid boring football and I hate it regardless of whether we were winning or losing. Football is the beautiful game, I want to see its beauty. I do not wan't to spend my time being bored for ninety minutes and then jump for joy because we sneak a winner at the end of it. If it's all about results, then there's no point in watching because I can read the result afterwards and find out how many points we got. I go to football to be entertained. This side bores the crap out of me.
If the answer is yes then fair enough, my argument / theory doesn’t apply to you.
But for 99.9% of fans, all their complaints about a style of play would disappear. This brilliant theory is a bit like debating whether I’d be comfortable celebrating if my grandma won Olympic 100m gold medal.Yeah sure, we’d raise a glass to the old girl, but also she’s dead and it’s not going to happen. The two things are fairly closely connected.1 -
Scott was a dud and has gone - coventry and will abbott are the only 2 things i think he can be credited for that were a success. The failures are too long to list.
Rodwell - no idea but gut instinct tells me he's a dud and assume he is the one referred to above as being on his way out.
Methven - gut instinct tells me that he might just have some merit
NJ - the one that really matters and he's coming good
Funds - 2/3 months ago you would be doubting if we actually had a top 4 budget, now i can believe it - Godden for instance now looks like a player who won't have come cheap.
Personally i think the club appears to be in good hands. A run of bad results and some unpopular transfer business and i reserve my right to have a moan but little to moan about right now. I'm optimistic.

Personally I’ve always thought the owners were attempting to do a good job for Charlton, now I think with recent results and alterations they have proved that point. However l like many others thought that the senior management team was, how can I put it, not fit for purpose, the reshuffle and sackings probably means that the owners saw the same and disbelieved the feed back from the SMT they received. They acted after a sensible period which they used to see what if anything needed sorting, by installing a new link back to the owner and cut out some of the bull shit feedback they were receiving. I think and hope that there may even more owner led (not SMT) adjustments to the SMT to come, certainly the owners installing Jones as manager and giving him enough freedom to form his own team was a master stroke worthy of some praise,1

I'm glad nobody listened to me when I had my doubts as I am equally glad that nobody listens to those who differ from what Jones is doing regarding certain players even now!0

My main concern is that if we don't go up this season then players like Ramsay, Small and Leaburn will leave.
If that happens we are basically back to square one and looking at another rebuild.
Promotion this season is an absolute must as far as I'm concerned.5 -
We can all argue whether ownership and management are doing a good job or not but at least they are operating the club in a professional manner. Lest we forget our previous claimed owners were 1)someone who operated the club like an 80s hair metal video fever dream 2) a dentist or a dentists accountant? 3) a shady real estate investor 4) a con man who asset stripped the club 5)a fake sheikh 6)an eccentric Belgian who hated the club and had an inexperienced lawyer a punk gamer scout running operations 7) the Cash/Slater/Jimenez debaucle5

Ultimately one doesn't concern oneself with what's happening upstairs but unless some enlightened individual can share news AND evidence of wrong doing that jeopardises the club's future then one can only just the administration by the results on the pitch. Right now it appears very good.3 -
