Sums up the club that there's been no apology from the player yet (unless I've missed it).Any other time, a player doing something like that would have put out an apology in the media or at least a quick tweet to say hope other bloke is okay.1

He got in touch with Mateta direct by the sounds of it. Not sure why he needs to do a press release.
"Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts is understood to have got in touch with Jean-Philippe Mateta after his reckless challenge sent the Crystal Palace striker to hospital - with the striker set to miss his side's next match."2 -

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like Millwall either - but put me in a train carriage to an away game, and ask me who would I talk to, well Millwall fans (provided they are not nut jobs of course) - Palace no way , just a pathetic plastic club that get right up my nose
Millwall, well given our record vs them, I’m just resigned to it 🙄
Also, I live in Dartford, and there is plenty of Millwall and Charlton fans around here - I know a few Millwall - decent blokes, no problem4 -

Yeah that's fair mate. I just know too many of them from where i grew up.
Another thing for me is we've already lived through seeing Millwall playing in Europe. Seeing palace achieve that would be unbearable imo1 - Sponsored links:

a billionth of a percent chance of the scum winning the FA Cup is still too much to live with .
The choir boy freaks are an established prem club who haven't been in the third tier for 48 years and are more a bromley /surrey thing than South East London and impossible to get to within a humane time from The Valley .0 -

Millwall have banned Mail Sport from matches and press conferences after the way they reported on the Mateta incident with Millwall fans chanting "Let Him Die"
Apparently Millwall feel that the Mail didnt sufficiently report that Palace fans also shouted the same chant a bit later when a Millwall player rolled his ankle
Millwall ban Mail Sport from matches and press conferences after reporting how club's fans loudly chanted 'let him die' while Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta was being treated following horror 'karate kick' tackle | Daily Mail Online
Think the most surprising aspect from this is there are Millwall fans amongst us that can read... They're evolving!!1 -
Heard it got Pwoper facking norty in the ‘wall’ end0

That'll hit the pink lions where it hurts... No daily male!1

Not one to defend Millwall but i do think the 'let him die' chant has been over-exaggerated simply because it's Millwall. Yes they sang it, but so do tons of clubs up and down the country when a player goes down injured.
A mate of mine was at the game and said the incident was at the other end of the pitch and they just thought it was a standard collision and didn't know how serious it was.
He then went on to say he was quite surprised the media were going on about that and not the fact that soon after some of their fans sang ‘que sera sera, whatever will be will be, Mateta's in A&E’.6 -
Yes the response to chant most fans sing has been over the top.
It took some time see it was serious.
I have beento games when stretcher taken out
and a minute or two later the player sprinting across the pitch. Too many player over state the injury so fans being sceptical is not out of order.1 -
Millwall also playing at home tonight, a rare occurrence for both of us to be playing at the same time0
-
Millwall fans gave a one minute applause tonight to their goalkeeper Liam Roberts for his flying Kung Fu kick to Jean-Philippe Mateta.
It was held in the eighth minute - the same minute that Mateta received his injury that required 25 stitches - nice touch eh?1 -

Lots of people that drink in my local are Millwall. Nearly all are sound blokes but if they even got to a semi-final or final again, it’d mean a Wembley trip and they would be f..ing unbearable.
If palace did get to a semi-final or final, the few palace fans I know would also be unbearable but I’d just remind them of John Fortune as a comeback and ask if they haven’t missed a weekly appointment to sign some sort of register.0 -
