Might be wrong, but think he's now leading our assists for the season, equal with Berry.

This hasn't been updated since yesterday but add the 2 and it puts him joint with Berry and Edwards and just ahead of Gillesphey, Chuks and Miles.

100%….yep he takes a nice corner but from what I’ve seen of him so far that’s about it

    hope I’m proved wrong

As mentioned above, football is a game of opinions but Eltham addick you now join Golfie and his infamous comment on the match thread that Miles Leaburn was only worth 50k before scoring a cracker at the valley and an assist against Cambridge and winning the game with his best 45 minutes in a CAFC shirt.

"Fanny" Gilbert was the game changer and after years of shocking corners instead of leaving Orient with zero points and the usual pile on, Charlton left with 3 points.

3 corners that have led to goals in his limited game time is amazing and has led to joy instead of the usual negativity after we fail to win or lose in the case of yesterday without his ability from the Arc.

The fact that Middlesbrough let Alex Gilbert leave on loan to a League 1 club tells you there are weaknesses in his game but if he gives cafc the X factor then it will be sheer ambrosia.

The Gaffer will decide if he starts or continues to impact matches from the bench.

TBF to you, you said you want to be proved wrong, and you were at Orient and hopefully in more matches to come.
    COYR.

See what you can do from corners when you beat the first man.

True but having tall players like Gillesphey, Leaburn, Aneke, Jones, and on his 2nd attempt Ramsey to get head on ball plus other players making up a crowd in the box makes a hell of a difference. The opposition don't know who is the biggest threat.

As we couldn't score in open play the corners are important not only in the mediocre League 1 but in the Premier which we see every week from the 'rush hour' melee in the penalty areas.

Fantastic goal from Brown  despite we had two players charging the ball but you can still win matches with set pieces which cafc achieved yesterday with precision, nous and monster mentality.

It would be great if we have an option to buy at the end of his loan I appreciate he looks a bit lightweight but he definitely has something about him

CAFC and Nathan Jones need to make that judgement at the end of the season after the last 13 games or even more ! Gilbert hasn't played enough 1st team football in his career and despite his ability with the stationary football we need to see his all round game especially when he starts and see his Stamina, as we have had a few with the short battery life !

I hope he succeeds for CAFC and his career where ever he ends up, come the summer.

He did seem to bottle a header and maybe this has held him back from having more league appearances but its his ability we're after, not his bravery - we've got enough warrior types and he certainly seems to be able to pick out and execute a good pass, and of course, a good set piece. He'll get a start soon i reckon and then we'll get a better idea of what he's all about.

He seems to be very highly rated at Boro and the manager didn't want to let him go out on loan. I'm not sure we have a chance there, but if we go up to the Champ then maybe.

Berry put one on Ramsays head and he somehow missed , so it's possible from others as well

If you're worried about that, just get him to spend this summer with whoever trained Campbell in the gym last summer!

    Well spotted Oohaah and you're the first poster to mention that as it's goes against the narrative that only mention the bad not the good of a low rated player;
Having said that the header straight at the keeper 🤦🏻‍♂️

Joe Willock couldn't even hit the target when he shut his eyes for the feeble attempted header for the Toon in the FA cup defeat to Brighton in a similar position to Chuck Berry.

I think we need to play him more so we can assess if he is the ball-player we need, trouble its risky tinkering with whats working at this crucial bit of the season.

I think Jones knows what he's doing with him. He's not used to the kamikaze running of the rest of the team and he's not going to have the terrifying fitness levels of the rest of our players because he didn't have the punishing preseason and training sessions that the others did. Bringing him on later when his lack of physicality is offset against tired opposition players and he can find the gaps that our fitter players are now swarming into is the way to go. Players with guile like him punish lapses in concentration and concentration dips with fatigue. I'm sure he'll get a start before too long but right now I think this is the best way to use him

I'd start him tomorrow and bring Doc back. Anderson and Berry have done great but I think we need Docherty's experience. Gilbert has shown that he has something extra. Being on the bench with our squad/situation is as good as starting.

I'd like to see the stats on how much ground Berry covers. I'd be surprised if, at 32, he's more mobile than a 23-year-old Gilbert, even if the latter is lacking match sharpness.

The challenge before the second goal at Orient was critical. When you watch injury time back for this game, he is absolutely all over it. I doubt he's ever had a better 10 minutes on a football pitch.

A bit weird that in all his sub appearances his set piece delivery really stood out, whereas when he started on Tuesday, they were pretty ineffective!

Agreed that his corner delivery was pretty naff compared to previous games. But I thought he had a solid game and got into good positions around the box...and he does try and pass forwards as much as possible.
