I watched that episode a couple of weeks ago & couldn't believe he got the money. It was Sara Davies who gave him the money as she said her & her kids were into football & thought it was a brilliant idea.Hal1x said:I was wrong he did!
I think the opposite. I can just imagine your typical 8 year old English kid, brought up watching the Premier League (and probably mad about Man U, Liverpool, Aresnal etc) and exited on xmas day when he thinks he's getting his favourite teams shirt......only to find it's some 3rd division Albanian team that nobody has heard of. He couldn't wear it out & certainly not at school.
It was interesting to find out that the guy on Dragons Den trying to raise the money didnt have a handle on how many repeat customers he had & the numbers seemed to show that subscriptions fell away after a few months, telling me that after receiving a couple of unrecognisable & useless shirts from said 3rd tier Albanian sides that people thought it was a waste of money.1 -
Seen a few of these sites now for Football and Cricket shirts. Would have been all over these types of things as a kid , used to always try and get local shirts wherever I went on holiday1

When I was an 8 year old kid I’d love a random kit, think I had the black and red Blackburn top and the Villa away shirt, then I had a Fenerbache kit as well. Amazingly, not everyone has your mindset.golfaddick said:

Arsenal, utd, inter, AC, Madrid, Chelsea, spurs, Barcelona, Malta, Greece, Luton are teams i had shirts from as a kid.. there's may even have been more that I've forgotten.
There's a whole wave of kids these day who don't even bother with a team, just become a fan of a player and his career.0 -
Kids love football shirts simple as that. I had loads growing up Charlton, West Ham, Exeter, Southampton, Hearts, Celtic, Man City, England, Scotland...probably more that I just can't remember too! My boy has tonnes of Charlton stuff, Arsenal (blame my eldest for that), England, Roma, Real Madrid, PSG, Inter Miami etc. I genuinely really don't think they care too much about the teams, so a few leftfield shirts are good! I don't ever see myself subscribing but I think for a one off £30 and a bit of fun for birthdays it's cool. I can't imagine it's a massive money spinner so doubt the dragon will get their cash back, but if they want to invest in something fun and have the spare dough then why not.3

I have tonnes of football shirts. I won't get any English ones that aren't Charlton but anything else is fair game. I used to walk to work so I'd wear a football shirt in to stop me being gross for the entire day in summer and I'd change when I got there. I've got so many now, Classic Football Shirts has clearance sales all the time and you can get some absolutely insane shirts. I got the Sardinia international team kit that was never actually worn because they never played a game and some absolutely insane US team shirt for Maryland or something that looks like it was designed by someone who had never seen colours before. I love it, football shirts are great.3

My boy opened his this morning, a 2019/20 Atalanta away shirt, nice enough shirt - but whoever runs this company must’ve struck onto a goldmine0

I collect football shirts and have done these a few times. Surprise shirts is by far the best I've experienced and you can choose your level of nicheness, which is nice. You're always realistically going to end up paying more than the shirt is worth so you're paying for the element of surprise but surprise shirts do seem to at least have deals with clubs/manufacturers that are difficult to buy here so you can get some really niche ones.
I think I'm unlikely to buy one again myself but may point people to it for xmas ideas for me.1 -
