See ! now you're re-living the tragedy !se9addick said:
I traipsed up to Hull when we got battered 6-0 and Rhys Williams had one of Charlton’s all time worst performances so his loan is etched in my memory!Bailey said:
My mind has now developed a self defence mechanism that forgets or at least tries to forget shit players, it works quite well until people like you se9, throw a curve ball into the mix, you fucker, I was quite happy with Kernaghan !se9addick said:
We had Rhys Williams on loan in 2016 and he was shocking. If this guy is a dud too we should interpret it as a declaration of war by the city (is it a city?) of Middlesbrough.Bailey said:Got to say, the fact that nobody seems to know too much about him is probably a good thing, no unrealistic expectations there then. I will base his signing on the last loan signing from Middlesborough, I think, Alan Kernaghan, if he turns out as well as that fella did then we might have a result.1 -
My son was quick to point out that at 6'1 he will also add some beight to our attacking options which has been sadly packing when godden, TC, small, berry and docherty have all been on the pitch at the same time.
passes the height test and if he goes down the gym with TC should bulk up nicely 😀0 -
He looks a beast of a player strength wise just like Fraser6

Many a true word spoken in jestvalleynick66 said:Manager Nathan Jones commented: "I'm delighted to have him. We’ve been looking to add more quality in the final third and Alex provides that. He comes with decent pedigree having played in a very good Championship side this season, who trust us to further his development.
"We don’t really like taking players on loan, but when an opportunity comes up to add real quality, like this, the transfer kitty has all been spent on the SMT we have to take it."

Seems very strange when Jones is so against loans that he loans an inexperienced 23 year old. Ah well time will tell.se9addick said:He’s hardly played any first team football, and has never played a full 90 minutes in his career (that seems pretty crazy by 23 years old), so I would take the views of fans of other clubs he’s been at with a massive pinch of salt.2 -
Step forward RonnieMendonca In Asdas said:Time will tell whether this fella is good, or a dud, got to trust our extensive recruitments judgement.1 -

Who signed the players we're moving on to streamline the squad? 🤔soapboxsam said:valleynick66 said:No words from Scott yet?Technical Director Andy Scott: "Our focus in this window has been on streamlining the squad to ensure Nathan has players that are going to contribute to the run-in and adding real quality to our team that improves us.
"We’ve been chasing Alex for a while now and we’re really pleased he’s joined us. We believe he has the ability to positively impact the team as he has done a number of times for Middlesbrough in the Championship. He has great quality in the final third, gives us something different in those forward positions and we’re looking forward to watching him in action for Charlton."
I'm not an apologist for Andy Scott and have said I have been disappointed with his judgement calls especially his opinion on Michael Appleton and his decision not to make George 'never misses a game' Dobson a top earner at the club.
On Alfie May that was more down to the way Nathan played him and the Luton Players connection was Jones call rather than Scott.
I like transparency on what injuries players have and who recommended them or signed the player for CAFC.
Ramsey, Edwards and Lloyd Jones very good signings do you not agree ? Coventry also a decent signings and that was Appleton and Scott going for a cup of tea with the family as well as Conor playing for Micky Apples at Lincoln on loan.
Lots of below par signings as well which have hampered our progress and Gassan Ahadme was probably signed to replace Miles Leaburn at some time which is looking a poor decision so far.
Whoever sanctioned that signing should pop along to specsavers.0 -
Not keen on the little beard an tache, but won’t hold that against him. Truly hope he’s the next Conner Gallagher…..1

One of our best ever wingers joined from Middlesbrough many years ago.2

Managed to get a tune out of Small this year.

Going to need Gilbert to be competition for both Berry and TC.2
-
I predict he'll look very average, make half a dozen low-key substitute appearances and slowly disappear into the fog of lower league football.3

God we have some miserable gits on here.17

I would say more realistic than miserable, not everyone looks through rose tinted glasses.Redrobo said:God we have some miserable gits on here.

"Realistic" translates as miserable on Charlton Life 😆eaststandmike said:

We were told we would reduce the squad size and bring in one, maybe two, players in that would improve the squad. That is exactly what has happened.eaststandmike said:

I think the vast majority wanted us to bring in an attacking midfielder. It appears we have, but as nobody has actually seen him play we will have to wait and see.
He apparently can cover several areas across the forward areas so can cover injuries.
I am happy to wait and see. Does that mean it is me looking through rose tinted glasses?

I’m not that disappointed we haven’t brought in a league 1 winger journeyman type winger but I think the deflater is McIntyre when we were all expecting / hoping for a pacy winger / attacker - seems like a signing more for the future than a ‘let’s have a go at this over the next few months’ type of signingRedrobo said:

I quite agree however if you are going to quote what we have been told then you need to include what was said last week and that was no loans and any additions would add quality to the squad.Redrobo said:

Now I sincerely hope the two new lads hit the ground running and help us get promotion however nobody knows what will happen because they have hardly played or been injured.
It hardly screams quality, more a case of fingers crossed they work out4 -

Did he have to park on the training pitch?1

That was a very thorough medical. I was waiting for the rubber glove to come out.5

Good video, but why do they have to play that crap muzak all the way through it...🤷♂️soapboxsam said:1 -
I don’t believe he said “no loans”, but I agree he is not favour of paying for the privilege of improving players from other clubs.eaststandmike said:

I think he also said something along the lines that if there were not young players here he would take a loan to fill a gap.
I would suggest that this signing is not a case of just fingers crossed. Football is quite a small community and I am sure we knew exactly what we were after.
I do wonder if we have had discussions re signing him permanently.5 -
Jimmy Floyd was technically a striker but his arse was so big when he joined us he kind of played all 3 positions across the front line.Starinnaddick said:One of our best ever wingers joined from Middlesbrough many years ago.15 -
Improve the squad, you do not know that though, none of us do.Redrobo said:

Untried from the smokies, the other one has had a mixed response from Portsmouth supporters.0
