My point was it should be 'British'. But, yes, I've seen that ridiculous statement, or similar, about comments by people who criticise themHuskaris said:

English?seth plum said:Errrm.
Harry had the temerity to marry and have children with Megan Markle.
Not the kind of thing the English establishment with all its tentacles find easy to accept.
If Harry can find a way to simply be an anonymous person then great, but the accident of his birth is a double edged sword, on the one hand wealth and privilege but on the other hand no privacy, plus being someone in the cross hairs of nutters.
Wouldn’t it be great if he could fade into anonymity and lead a quiet life, but as I have said, the accident of his birth has forced him into a world that is very unpleasant.

Well I assume everybody is here because of the accident of their birth as an individual. Nobody gets to choose the circumstances into which they are born.PrincessFiona said:
It is not because of 'the accident of his birth' - although I didn't realise him being born was an accidentseth plum said:

I would say many, if not most, of us can’t be free of our cross.seth plum said:
In his case he can never be free of his cross because of the accident of his birth. If he exploits that for money I don’t particularly blame him because he is trapped.Arsenetatters said:And another thing….he blames everyone but doesn’t take responsibility for his own part in it. I get he was born into the royal family, yes his mother died when he was young etc etc but man up and stop whining.
We all have our own cross to carry
Most people then navigate. It is particular for him because of the accident of his birth, which invites others to sit in judgement over him.
Maybe you know of an instance when that has happened, I can’t think of one.2 -
I repeat it isn't because of the accident of his birth that people comment as they doseth plum said:

Another Netflix documentary, where cameras follow them around. Children use shamelessly as props. But that’s Ok no intrusion at all. Like all the Royals moan when the truth comes out, anything negative is “a gross violation of our privacy “
We are treated like peasants, and drip fed news.We need to think the role this family in the 21st century.0 -
I thought this was quite interesting:

I agree in part but the same applies to many ‘celebrities’. The double standard is not a uniquely Royal Family thing.usetobunkin said:Another Netflix documentary, where cameras follow them around. You are absolutely right about the celebrity thing, but I pay through my taxes to support this family of freeloaders.valleynick66 said:

I have argued above that Harry is in his individual position due to the accident of his birth. Like all of us.
However his accident placed him in a position where he would be under the microscope.
If he tries to reject that by going abroad with his wife(and fails it seems), then can there be any surprise that he would monetise his situation in an ‘if you can’t beat them join’ them kind of way?
If people comment they are commenting on a facsimile of a person, not the individual. The comments, both favourable and unfavourable are not based on reality, but what is perceived through filters.1 -
Nope, you don't, as I and others have said on numerous occasionsseth plum said:

If you really want to know why people comment as they do - phone a friend or ask the audience1 -

We are treated like peasants, and drip fed news.We need to think the role this family in the 21st century.
Harry’s phone was illegally hacked/tapped and private information published.
I’m no great fan of Harry, but anyone with a shred of decency should be opposed to phone hacking.
Someone must have lived the perfect life if they would be quite happy to have everything on their phone published to the world.9 -

And it's not just what's on the victim's phone, it's the messages left by others on voicemail.
If anyone still thinks that phone hacking isn't a big deal, imagine for a moment what it would have been like for Millie Dowler's parents being given false hope that she was alive, because messages being left on her phone were being picked up. And then remember it was the News of The World that was doing it.9 -
Well done Harry. A true British hero.1

You can support them and stand for election on a republican ticket.4
