Agreed. All 3 are very good and let's be honest most people just want to see the highlights anyway.North Lower Neil said:

That's a very strong lineup. Interesting that they've gone for a team with lots of radio experience, and people who are professional presenters rather than commentators or ex-players moving straight to TV. I think that's a good idea. They can have a wide range of ex-players being pundits and get a chance to work out who's good at it, while having the overall show under the control of someone who's spent their life doing it.
I spend a lot of time listening to programmes presented by one or other of these three while driving and have great respect for their abilities.6 -
            shame about Micah Richards though.2

Agreed. Lineker was an exception, but football seems to work much better with separate people in the 3 roles.Swindon_Addick said:That's a very strong lineup. Lead commentator - a broadcaster, who just describes the action (Motson, Tyler, Mowbray, Steve Wilson etc)
Co commentator or studio pundit - ex player who can add their "expert" opinion to what's going on, using their personal experience (Shearer, Neville, Wright etc)
Presenter - someone who can handle live TV and radio broadcasts, keep the show on time and ask the right questions to the pundits (Chapman, Cates etc)

I haven't watched MOTD for a long time and watching that clip, frankly I'll will never watch it again. As a licence fee payer I'm fuming. "Go woke go broke" couldn't be more apt.seth plum said:1 -

Good choices. Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan are brilliant presenters. Mark Chapman not quite as good but likable none the less.

Match of the Day should show fewer Premier League highlights and more analysis, says BBC chairman Samir Shah.
The BBC has a deal to show highlights of top-flight matches until the end of the 2028-29 season, with Match of the Day broadcast on Saturday evenings and MOTD2 on Sunday evenings.
Shah told the Sunday Times, that many fans had watched Premier League goals and action before Match of the Day is broadcast.
Shah said the show "should not be built around highlights".
He added: "It should be built around analysis and examination of the match to give viewers a deeper insight."
Although the BBC is politically independent, its chairperson is appointed by the government.
In his role as chair of the BBC's board Shah is charge of upholding and protecting the BBC's independence and ensuring the BBC fulfils its mission to inform, educate and entertain.
Match of the Day celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024.
It is hosted by former England striker Gary Lineker, who will step down at the end of this season.

The BBC never learn when it comes to tampering with formats. QoS, Sports Review of the Year and Football Focus, all changed for an audience that has no intention of watching the programme in any format, whilst pissing off the existing audience.SporadicAddick said:Match of the Day should show fewer Premier League highlights and more analysis, says BBC chairman Samir Shah.

I always fast forward through the “analysis”, I assumed everyone that isn’t watching at the time of broadcast did the same!5

Goes back to my coaching days and I enjoy ex pros giving their opinions. For example I wanted to know Shay Given thoughts on the Fernandez free kick and Reya's position as Ratty's foot takes the kick. 11 yards may be the reason as Shay said the Wall had tall lads and they jumped up. Unfortunately the follow up question wasn't about Trump and Zelensky which was a missed opportunity.
Free kicks around the box should be arranged like in the snooker where VAR is looking at a screen and the on field Ref pulls the wall forward or backwards until it's exactly 10 yards (9.15 M) No rests or Spiders allowed.0 -

couldn't disagree more with this, no need to alter it's current formatSporadicAddick said:Match of the Day should show fewer Premier League highlights and more analysis, says BBC chairman Samir Shah.
