Anyone got an inside track on this. I remember when you just got waved through. 🤦🏻♂️
From the EU website :
When filling out the application, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- Personal information including your name(s), surname, date and place of birth, nationality, home address, parents’ first names, email address and phone number;
- Travel document details;
- Details about your level of education and current occupation;
- Details about your intended travel and stay in any of the countries requiring ETIAS;
- Details about any criminal convictions, any past travels to war or conflict zones, and whether you have recently been subject of a decision requiring you to leave the territory of any country.
You will need to declare that the data you submit and the statements you make are correct. You will also need to confirm that you understand the entry conditions to the territories of the European countries requiring ETIAS and that you may be requested to provide the relevant supporting documents each time you cross the external border.

One thing to be careful of is it will be linked to your passport (number) so if you need a new passport within the time frame it is valid I think you would have to reapply for a new one.0

I’m 68 and quite why I need to give my parents names or education eludes me.7

EES keeps getting delayed because no one is ready for it. ETIAS same as requiring an ETA for Canada or an ESTA for USA.2
-
Finally a Brexit benefit!2
-
The EES is supposed to be coming in before ETIAS. (The fingerprinting and facial recognition bit). All the shiny new machines were lined up still in their protective packaging at Lanzarote ACE airport last week. No where near ready. It was supposed to be 10 November but apparently France, Holland and Germany couldn't get their act together. No new date has been announced. As for ETIAS, it was supposed to be launched in 2020,then 2022, 2023 and 2024. So I wouldn't hold my breath.
If the application process is anywhere near the same as the US ESTA, it will be very straightforward. (They don't even ask you if you are a member of the Nazi party anymore).3 -
Awe, you're all gonna have to fill a form in.

Can you arrange for the EES biometrics online before you go to airport for trip, if so, how? I can envisage thousands missing their plane due to delays completing the bureaucratic box ticking.1

At the moment no exact date has been announced for the start of ETIAS and no applications are currently being accepted.

No doubt there will be a directive on what pen or font you must use.1 -

No date has been set but it’s likely to be before summer 2025.0

Many airports already.Don’t see how you can do your fingerprints online beforehand if it’s to be secure?
I think it’s just been reported that first time you travel within Europe when introduced there will be an additional 5 mins to get the fingerprints first recorded - at least that’s what I’ve understood.0 -

You can say one thing about Brexit: it's given Europe control back of their borders.19
-
Borders?
Anybody mention borders?

Seems like a storm in a teacup for remainers to wet their knickers about. Hopefully will speed things up like esta (visa waiver) has done.8

it’s an EU decision on who to require additional information from.I don’t really see the point you are making in the context of behaviour.4 -

can’t say i routinely sail through many airport passport controls currently (or before Brexit) and can often recall few staff and seemingly surly staff perusing passports slowly.
Its up to the EU as to how they will implement not the UK.If the EU want it then it will need to be followed.3 -
Was hoping this wouldn’t deteriorate into a Brexit thing. If it does, it’s a pity. I was hoping that that it would lead to how this was going to be implemented and what it means for the average traveller.4
