I'm sure they have but you'd imagine it would probably take quite a while to actually get the claim assessed and the money paid to them. They're not a rich club and they're having to postpone home games so won't have any income for a while but will still have bills and staff to pay.Off_it said:

Also it might depend on what their insurance excess is? The stadium is right next to a river so they might have a high excess in order to get the insurance cover because it's on a flood plain.
Just guesses, as i am in no way an insurance expert.4 -
Is it not a bit weird to crowdfund for a professional football team, who I assume have insurance for this sort of thing?5

Definitely feels it.Croydon said:Is it not a bit weird to crowdfund for a professional football team, who I assume have insurance for this sort of thing?
They've build a £30m football stadium in an area that by all accounts has had flooding issues in the past, which feels ill-conceived anyway, it's flooded, and now it's got the crowdfunding when they've even confirmed it's insured.
Up to people what they do with their own money though I guess.1 -
In their statement they did say that they had a considerable excess on the insurance.it has also been stated that the river has not burst its banks before, so maybe previous flooding was in the vicinity but not there.North Lower Neil said:

I still find it an odd one personally but as I say, to each their own.0 -

Perhaps they could use the FA Cup that they didnt win to bail out any water.9

Or use the Karl Robinson banner to soak up some of the water!golfaddick said:Perhaps they could use the FA Cup that they didnt win to bail out any water.1 -
The club didn’t set up the crowdfunder, supporters did2

I don’t think that’s how the crowd fund thing worksBoPeepAddick said:

Decent boost for Wimbledon towards the pitch repair work.letthegoodtimesroll said:Just announced on Talksport they will be playing the game at St James Park next week
50k crowd paying (say a reduced ticket price 20 quid) is a million, so they'll get half of that.
They'll not get 50k there but of course will get considerably larger crowd and gate receipts.4 -
