  • Just announced on Talksport they will be playing the game at St James Park next week
Decent boost for Wimbledon towards the pitch repair work.

50k crowd paying (say a reduced ticket price 20 quid) is a million, so they'll get half of that.

They'll not get 50k there but of course will get considerably larger crowd and gate receipts.

Can see that taking months to sort out. Will interesting to see where they agree to play home games...
Loftus Road was mentioned on by one of their fanzine twitter accounts

I vaguely remember them playing a couple of games there when their new stadium was slightly delayed

Perhaps they can share with Kingstonian
    or Sutton
Or Charlton…we seem to be looking for tenants if that rugby team story is true, it’s an easy trek from SW19 and surrounds to SE7, there’s plenty that do it for every Charlton home game and Jackson knows the way.
20 Minutes on the 75 bus. Our facilities are much better & we'll be equal partners  :#

They sold their ground to Chelsea several years ago.
It was in reference to how AFC stole the ground from Kingstonian
I'm no fan of Wimbledon. But didn't they buy the ground off Kingstonian when they were in a bit of financial difficulty? Then when Wimbledon sold the ground they gave Kingstonian £1million of the proceeds, which they weren't legally obliged to do. They didn't have to give them anything.

Hardly sounds like a "steal" in that context.
Yep, Wimbledon doing this kept kingstonian alive. But that doesn’t fall into most agendas
  • I wonder if they will try to get Saturday’s game played at The Valley ?

QPR would be a better bet
  • Would expect it most likely to be Sutton, they're away on Saturday although QPR would fit the bill too.

Sutton is too small in my opinion
  • Wimbledon pump 100,000 litres of water from ground

They are home to Accrington on Saturday. QPRs ground is likely too big? I think Sutton would accommodate nicely. Also Mk dons play at Bromley (congratulations) to introduce a bit of danger to the equation. Personally think they'll postpone and rearrange after agreeing something with one or two clubs.

    Sutton's capacity 7032
AFC Wimbledon's average home home attendance last season was 7054.

100,000 litres is about as much water as a football pitch will lose through evaporation on a four hot summer's days.  If their ground has become that bad with just 100,000 litres of water, then there's no reason to think it won't happen again and again.

    Yeah, slightly too small then
  • According to this the attendance for the Accrington Match last season was 7108, and that was on a Tuesday night. Admittedly that may have been elevated a bit by the "new ground" phenomenon, but it'd still be tight at Sutton. Restricting the away attendance might've been OK if they'd been aware earlier that they were going to have to move it, but given they'll already have been selling tickets, it's possible that they've already exceeded the capacity of Sutton's away end.

You could take 15% off their average that would not go to Sutton or another ground.

  • They could have played at Stadium MK  😂

Wimbledon to Sutton is 5.3 miles and would be the best option if it's not Palace 7.6 miles.

I feel sorry for JJ and I want them to be successful for him. Jackson can walk on water but the players will disappear down the sinkhole. 13 points from 6 matches and then the heavens opened up.

I think you'll be surprised. The interest to watch live football at top PL clubs is in high demand these days.

Most of them have their grounds sold out every week for PL games with a waiting list for season tickets so a game like this gives a chance for others to get to a game. Plus with reduced ticket prices i'm sure they'll sell out.

I agree with what you say but I think that the gate will be nearer to 40k.
  • Absolutely pissing down in SW19 at the moment and had been earlier as well. They might have been a big too quick to move that sand…
