Bought mine from inside the AC gates. Only one I buy because it's the handbook. Can't see programmes lasting more than a couple more years outside the prem and the day tripper market.0

Only ever done for these games, which wouldn’t be the benchmark though. Seem more like no one can be bothered.Stig said:
It may be a sensible move if you're planning to stop producing it in a season or two and want to use low sales figures as your public excuse.Airman Brown said:Why would anyone think this is sensible?0 -
I had no idea it was a handbook. It was so expensive we bought one between the three of us on Saturday but none of us read it.
Not sure if it was designed to encourage or confuse the potential Chinese fan base but it was printed back to front and front to back which was bewildering. I gave up on it after a few minutes.
I am an IT dinosaur but maybe a Valley match day App with ticket news, team selections and manager comments might be more useful and slightly less 19th century. Also offers a data capture and ad sales opportunity.
And just after a home win might be a good time for a link to future ticket sales
Just a tentative suggestion obviously. I am sure Charlie M knows what he's doing.

We've done that several times. Matchday programme one way and flip it the other for handbook.grumpyaddick said:I had no idea it was a handbook. It was so expensive we bought one between the three of us on Saturday but none of us read it.

Im pretty sure the club handbook as part of the first match day programme of the season has been done for decades at this point.grumpyaddick said:I had no idea it was a handbook. It was so expensive we bought one between the three of us on Saturday but none of us read it.

Since 2003 with one exception. Although it was done mid-season one year, which if I recall was Meire’s fault.CAFCTrev said:

I always buy and keep the handbook edition.
Poor promotion by the vendors on Saturday of either the price or the handbook nature of it.0 -
They really need to start accepting cards too, hardly anyone carries cash now days. I had to join the huge main store queue to go get mine.0

Bought one at the gates for mum when we got home. She loves watching the games but doesn't always remember the players names cos of dyslexia, so I normally draw out the formation with names, numbers and lots of arrows to represent p
otential transitions on and off the ball. Little did we know, when we got back to Somerset, she'd made a whole squad board herself 😂😂 . Will see if I can get a photo of it in all its glory now

Felt a bit sorry for the seller, everyone was offering a ten pound note, she had long run out of pound coins. Anyway, the handbook format makes perfect sense and is ok. Don't think the price is out of order, a couple quid more, sure, but about the price of a kit kat.1

As nice an idea as it is where would they go? The west stand concourse is rammed anyway as is the back of the east when there’s any sort of attendance and the covered upper concourse is mainly beer queuesshine166 said:

Hadn't thought that far ahead, but the family stand kiosk could potentially close for booze and sell merch instead, don't really know about the other stands as I don't use them.fenaddick said:

The Curbs stand had a shop on the slope as you walked up to the stand. It is still there and now used for storage I assume.2

To be fair that’s the stand it would be best for to be honest, can you imagine all the parents walking out the stadium empty walleted after buying another piece of tat their kid has begged for all through the first half? Would be a great money spinnershine166 said:

Last season the kiosks were cash only, so a significant change (no pun intended). Lets hope the reception outside works.clive said:Valley Review returns with a bumper 176-page edition on Saturday for the Addicks’ Sky Bet Championship opener against Watford.

Yeah its doesnt really need to be huge either, could have a runner pop back to the main store for more stock. American sports stadiums do it and like you say it must be a great money earner, every time ive been to a sports event over there ive ended up buying merch from inside the ground once the game is happening.fenaddick said:
