If you don't manage to track one down, they're available to order from the website. The trick is to ignore the club shop and follow the options to buy tickets - "home matchday programmes" is near the end of the list, just after "women's away tickets"".shine166 said:Does anyone have a spare from the pompey friendly ? put a box of tat together from the boys first game but didnt realise they had them available.
Edit: as above, went I the shop and spent money just didn't see the programmes1 -
Wondering if I can get the Pompey and Brum programmes on Saturday, I'm sure there must be left overs.0
-
Where does it say its only available in the club shop.2

Glad I'm not the only one who missed this. Never been to a game and not been able to get it on Floyd Rd. Unless they weren't selling them outside the ground yesterday?CoveredEndAndy said:Where does it say its only available in the club shop.0 -
Just noticed it’s in this link, hope that’s only for last night not going forward.

The Pompey one was a joke. £2 and was 2 pieces of paper stapled together. (may be 4 but that is maximum). Hopefully it's not going to be like that for the regular buyers this season.0

Highly unlikely. I can see why you wouldn’t bring in the external company which sells programmes for these games. I just don’t get why you would produce a programme and not go to any effort to sell it.fenaddick said:Just noticed it’s in this link, hope that’s only for last night not going forward.

if you tried it for league games it would last one match.0 -
Huddersfield went to a newspaper style programme around seven years ago, that lasted only one season.Airman Brown said:

I guess because you’re obligated to create one anyway. I agree it seems silly not to sell them outside the ground, especially if fanzines like MOD mag are available. Surely wouldn’t be hard to station one person outside each home stand at least?Airman Brown said:

never understood why they don’t sell them at the bars in the ground. Would definitely pick up some impulse sales with no costs attached.0

No obligation any more. No programme at Wigan last Saturday, and the monthly magazine they introduced to replace it has also been dropped in favour of a free online information pack.fenaddick said:

Quite a few years ago they did have a portacabin selling stuff behind the Alan Cubishley Stand.shine166 said:
We should have a shop kiosk in the ground, shirts scarfs and programmeskafka said:never understood why they don’t sell them at the bars in the ground. Would definitely pick up some impulse sales with no costs attached.2 -
Have they sold off all those kiosk newspaper trolleys?0

They belong to the programme sales company, as Katrien discovered after she sacked them.Karim_myBagheri said:Have they sold off all those kiosk newspaper trolleys?14 -

used to collect programmes, gave a couple of thousand away to @Lewis Coaches a few years ago. Wouldn't buy one myself now unless it were a special game, a Wembly final for instance, because I get all I need online now but can understand why some people still collect them. Selling just in the shop is madness, why not a single seller near the club shop? If nayone wants a programme that much they can go there to get one.

I think programmes are a generation thing and with mobiles now the sales of programmes have declined.LargeAddick said:used to collect programmes, gave a couple of thousand away to @Lewis Coaches a few years ago. It broke my heart to give up collecting when I moved, it's part of the fabric in going to a game, but for a certain age range.
It would be interesting to know a print run nowadays compared to 30 years ago.0 -
The firm was reinstated eventually.Hal1x said:That was years ago shurely, and they have had others since?0 -
Obviously a lot fewer, even allowing for the decline in crowds. I would think the print run is circa 2,000 now. We used to sell between one in two and one in three, and for big games more than one in two.ElfsborgAddick said:

Premier League sales from 98/99. These exclude 1-2,000 issued/sold in lounges, the shop and staff /player comps. We were taking about £20k a game.2 -
Programme and VOTV for the penultimate game of the season. The 143 would be subscribers. The VOTV revenue went to the club, in case anyone wonders.3 -
Programs are another victim of the modern communication situation. People used to buy programs to read the latest news from the club and get team news etc. nowadays everyone probably knows everything that is likely to be printed in the program0

The combined programme and handbook costs £6 and will be available on matchday in the club shop and from vendors around the ground.

It was advertised last year as 6 pounds but was shown as 5 pounds on the front of the publication so was sold at that pricefenaddick said:https://www.charltonafc.com/news/202425-handbook-available-orient-clash

It may be a sensible move if you're planning to stop producing it in a season or two and want to use low sales figures as your public excuse.Airman Brown said:Why would anyone think this is sensible?4
