You are an absolute legend0 -
Think we should close this thread down for a couple of months, and focus on the Euros and Olympics.2

Footballers can afford to live in the nice parts can’t they?blackpool72 said:

Nothing wrong with living in London.NabySarr said:
How many of our players actually live in London? Maybe some of the younger ones might want to, but I’d imagine most live in nicer places further outRonnieMoore said:
We seen London not the pull it use to be ..even offering double the money can’t persuade players and more important their family to move to a troubled capital cityBR7_addick said:Well if he goes Bristol rovers over us is this legitimate grounds for a small meltdown? The budget should, if promotion worthy, be beating them to a signing you’d hope.
I think in them olden days of yore clubs used to encourage them to move to the suburbs, get married and settle down, to keep them on the straight and narrow.0 -
Blair I believe is out of the window now.. unfortunately lot of interest from higher clubs! Shame.
But maybe today is the day.. but football is a funny business, never say it is totally done.17 -
Adam davies Sheffield United keeper we are after3

Jones brought him in when stoke manager0

I mean it's not surprising but to already be getting the "we're pursuing players in demand but lost to other clubs" narrative is ever so slightly worrying.DubaiCAFC said:Blair I believe is out of the window now.. unfortunately lot of interest from higher clubs! Shame.

I'm not saying it's not true, we might very well genuinely be after players with lots of interest. I'm not wetting any beds - we probably have other targets and (apparently) one player has/will choose us over another club. But so far it's sounding eerily familiar...0 -
Seems to have played most of his career in the midlands. I hope he can afford the nice areas of London…..8

Mannion sounds close, mentioned at the end of the article.shirty5 said:
The South Londoners are well-placed to sign Will Mannion as a free agent from Cambridge United.

Davies would certainly fit the bill as an experienced No1. Plenty of EFL experience but would be slightly surprised if he didn't stay in the championship.0

Agree it seems ambitous.MarcusH26 said:Davies would certainly fit the bill as an experienced No1. Plenty of EFL experience but would be slightly surprised if he didn't stay in the championship.
Maybe his agent trying to get Sheff Utd to speed up their offer.1 -
Be pleased with that, good keeper

Playing as a number 2 at a higher level. Last time he was in league 1 he played every game for a team that won promotiongolfaddick said:20 -

He was a PL second choice keeper last season.
I don't know anything about him but appearances across two years Sheffield United were top of Championship and then PL is not relevant for a keeper. Plenty of second choice keepers at that level who would make fantastic first choices in L1.

But we have had 3 keepers, that have been great for us that have left to be squad members up the divisions, Billon Phillips, Rob Elliot and Ben Hamer. The last one seems to play more these days and got a title winners medal with Leicester, but sometimes keepers can get stuck as a number two but with a sustained chance prove their worth.golfaddick said:3 -
Only Golfie could compare a perennially injured lower league striker to an internationally capped second choice goalkeeper in a championship/premiership yo-yo team and spin it into a negative.golfaddick said:46 -

Barnsley fans absolutely loved Adam Davies when he was there. But then they loved Isted as well so maybe they can’t be trusted5

A keeper is all well and good, but it’s the 4 or 5 directly in front of him that will matter more. How many goals were a result of shite defending1
-
Need a good GK to instil confident in his back line too. Something that was way off last season3
-
We know we’re looking to sign a left back (Edwards looking likely) and a couple of CBs (having let Hector and Thomas go) on top of bringing in Ramsay and Small earlier in the year.AberystwythAddick said:A keeper is all well and good, but it’s the 4 or 5 directly in front of him that will matter more. We’ll also be after a replacement for Dobson too.0 -
Davies is a better age than some that have been linked - Ruddy etc.
31 is still reasonably young for a keeper.0 -

Will be 32 next month but realistically you could get two good years out of him at least and we can see if Mannion progresses while we’re at itNorth Lower Neil said:Davies is a better age than some that have been linked - Ruddy etc.
