Premier League 23/24

Ive got a half decent idea. Have your mob ever thought of joining some kind of super league? Reckon that could be a good thing, all the big boys playing each other in a very competitive league. Then the PL will also become competitive with all the shitters left in it that aren't good enough for the super league.SELR_addicks said:
Exactly my point no?MrOneLung said:
Is that the same West Ham who conceded 6 at home to ArsenalSELR_addicks said:13% Possession for West Ham.
Competitive League.
Whole season is turning into a procession that gets decided from 6 games a year when the top teams play each other.1 -
....... That's literally every major league in football. Anyway this is all a terrible take when they won the league by just 2 points, the smallest margin in the top European leagues. Madrid, Leverkusen, PSG, Sporting, Inter all absolutely crushed their leagues and had them essentially wrapped up ages agoSELR_addicks said:

Wouldn't have been enough though in reality because City won it with 2 games to spare so rested players and only got 1 point from Brighton and Brentford. If they'd needed to get more then the total would've definitely been over 90 points.North Lower Neil said:
Also would have won last season with their record this season (on goal difference).SELR_addicks said:Mikel Arteta's side end the season with 28 wins, Arsenal's most in a 38 game league & only one less than the 1970-71 Double winners.
Their 89 points is second to the Invincibles in club history.
They haven't scored this many league goals (91) since the 50s.
Still come 2nd.
They're a very good team, need a striker though.
The only other time in the last 8 years the winning total was less than 90 points was in 20-21 when City (86 points) again had it wrapped up with games to spare.
The reality is the levels have increased and you need to get 90+ points to have a chance.
Arsenal are definitely well placed, have a great young team, will only get stronger, and you'd have to fancy them to be the team to beat once Pep leaves and this City era of dominance inevitably takes a downturn.0 -
Got to laugh at Arsenal fans though. Last season it was 'we'd have won the league if Saliba hadn't got injured'. This year he didn't miss a single minute of football and they still didn't win it.

And finally it's worth pointing out that City might have actually even won it by more if Rodri hadn't missed 3 games through suspension.
The 3 games he missed (Wolves, Arsenal and Villa all away), they lost all 3 of them, which were the only games they lost all season. Haaland might get the goals, and Foden and De Bruyne get a lot of the plaudits, but for me it's Rodri who is their most important player. The guy is irreplaceable.
City are now unbeaten in 15 months when Rodri has played, a run of 50 games. Ridiculous.9 -

Probably his POTY at Charlton will mean more to him.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Third choice goalkeeper at a PL club at the end of your career is such a good job.
Train in fantastic facilities, get the best seat for the best matches, good wage, no pressure.

Helps if you're English too, as some of the big clubs basically use that spot for a player to count towards the required homegrown quota.North Lower Neil said:Third choice goalkeeper at a PL club at the end of your career is such a good job.

Think that's a bit of a myth, City could have used a foreign keeper instead of Carson for all four years and been fine.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Potch gone by sounds of it0

Chelsea’s last 15 league games (9-5-1) seemed to have found something maybe.
maybe not.0 -
Maybe they go for the Palace manager Glasner 🤞

Thought they ended the season really well and if they signed a number 9 would do well next season. Sacking him seems bizarre.
Wonder if they'll go for De Zerbi?1 -
Official statement has confirmed his departure "by mutual consent" along with his backroom staff0
-
Over the years Chelsea have developed an incredible knack of booting out managers who do not deserve it.

Looks like it was a disagreement over signings and what players to keep. Basically the owners saying you shut up, we'll decide who comes and goes.
Which appears to be a £1 billion plan thats worked really well for them so far.........0 -
Well done Poch. You were far too nice a guy for them dirty shitcnuts.4
-
Chelsea must have spunked the GDP of a small country paying off managers in the last 15 years.0

One of the alleged disagreements was apparently over Poch wanting to keep Gallagher and the owners saying no we're selling him.1

Only way they can stay out of trouble financially, expect the likes of Madueke and Colwill to also be sold in coming years tooChris_from_Sidcup said:One of the alleged disagreements was apparently over Poch wanting to keep Gallagher and the owners saying no we're selling him.1 -
Newcastle vs Spurs soon to kick off in Melbourne. Premier League clubs should never, ever moan again about playing too many games when they do shit like this.9

Pochettino now favourite either the bookies to replace Ten Hag.0
-
I agree but if anyone can do this it's Spurs. They only played 41 games this season which is less than anyone. In comparison Liverpool played 58.AllHailTheHen said:Newcastle vs Spurs soon to kick off in Melbourne. Is there a trophy for the winner? Maybe Spurs thought this was their best bet of winning some silverware.1

Ange said as much last week when asked about it. He said if they had a long European campaign this season he would have vetoed the gameChris_from_Sidcup said:
