Trump, Ronnie and Higgins all bite the dust. Not the semi final line up that most had hoped for. Bingham on fire.

no one would have had Wilson as the highest ranked player in the semis, a rather odd year but enjoyable nonetheless

Like Gilbert so rooting for him, don't mind Kyren Wilson winning either.

Bookies must have had a field day with the last four being as they are.
I backed Trump before the competition started but just like the other top seeds he failed to perform when it really mattered.
I fancy Gilbert now from what I've seen so far
    But what do I know.

Wow, that ball reset was absolutely mental. Couldn't have done that in a snooker hall.

Completely missed all the first session as I was driving to Sheffield, was Jak outplayed or drained from the slog of getting to the final.

It was a frame with a mixture of great play, luck and big pressure.
Wilson looked very relieved to of won it.
Crowd really got behind Jones tonight.

End of that session was very nervy especially for Jones.
At 13-10 with 2 frames left it could have gone to 13-12 but it ended 15-10.
Huge difference going into the last session advantage to Wilson.

Interesting final although both players producing a load of rubbish. Nerves I guess. Nice not to have to listen to Ronnie’s boorish following although he would have produced more fireworks than we’re currently seeing.  Much as I’ve enjoyed his commentary over the years, Virgo is beginning to sound like an addled old grandfather. Time for a change methinks.
  • I don’t think that black for 17-11 was a fluke….  He went for it.

This evenings play reminded me of when I would have a few frames in the local.snooker hall once the pubs had shut. I'm sure someone sowed the holes up then too.....

It was, although i don't remember him apologising which he normally would. I know a contradiction, but it looked like he caught it too much as the white should have been near the top and then send the black round the table. I'll wait and see if he confirms it but looked a big fluke, although in retrospect i don't think it affected the result.

Pleased for Kyren, wasn't the best standard and even if the draw opened up a bit still fantastic to win his first. He will most likely win another, maybe a couple more. Hard luck JJ who battled well and kept clawing back and getting to within 3 frames but just fell short.

On the quality side of it, although it seemed poor there was a lot of drama and shocks and overall still not as bad as people are making out online. The pockets seemed tighter than normal, which might have affected it, although maybe thats because media/ BBC kept mentioning it.

    I'll be going next year!

Jackson Page has become the first player to make two maximums in the same match. And it has earned him a bonus of £147k for making 2 147s in major events this season. This was v Allan Taylor in the qualifiers for Sheffield.

Great stuff, but I doubt he will ever achieve that double again

that is astonishing. only once did he look anything other than completely calm, when he had to compose himself before the final black in the last frame, and what an amazing shot he then played to get on the yellow
