I really hope we change formation Tuesday. 4231 would be my choice.. Yes, maybe lacking natural wingers.. As poor as he has been, I would be tempted to play Edun as a winger, and try and use his pace.
                   Istad
    Ramsey Reg Jones Gilesphey
           Dobson Coventry
                     Camara
    May                          Tayo
                    Kanu (If chucks can't start)

Let's face it May has been in effective when he has played up top, his best form and ours is when he is deeper.

Ah yes, because this worked so well with Appleton and we at least had CBT on the wing then. Take him out and the 4-2-3-1 that lost games for most of the last 2 months has even less chance of working

If we do play with wingers (we shouldn’t) then surely Tyreece Campbell would be an automatic selection?

And 3 5 2 has worked so well?

Not sure if any has the stats on the formations we played v results.

Campbell is miles off it at the moment, his head isn't in it

Unless it’s Chuks, no way should we play 4231 because all that happens is the ball gets kicked forward, the opposition defence has a quick yawn, says thank you very much and seconds later we are defending yet another attack

Obtained my free ticket on the website, and there were very few available near me (J Block). I hope that augers well. If we can get off to a good start in front of a decent crowd it might make quite a difference to the team's confidence. Dobson returning will also help.
Surely we have to win eventually?

PS Let's hope they take a few more shots from outside the area, something we hardly ever try.
  •                    Isted
Ramsay Jones Thomas Small (if fit)
                      Dobson
           Coventry       Camara
                      Watson
              May             Kanu

With Chuks to come on as early as possible without overdoing it.

                       Isted

    Ramsay  REG Jones   Thomas

                      Coventry

          Dobson                Bakinson

                       L Watson

                      May    Kanu

Subs; AMB, Assimwe or Small (if fit), Gillesphey (if fit) or Ness, Camara, Anderson, Chucks (if fit) or Casey, Ladapo,

T Watson, Edun and Ladapo deserve to be dropped completely. The latter only on the bench because of our lack of striking options as Campbell’s brief cameo done him no favours so let Casey have a taste of being in the match day squad if Chucks not ready. That starting eleven should have enough experience energy and battling qualities about it to go and win the game. COYRs

Our recruitment means we are pretty much forced into playing 3-5-2 or a 4-4-2 diamond. Anything else means players playing out of position and makeshift wingers. We also now have a manager that has had success using both of those systems so it would be really silly if we scrap that whole plan and go back to what wasn’t working before

I won’t be writing 3-5-2 off when Jones has only had a week with the players. Or we could see the switch to the diamond, this is what I think will probably happen as we switched to it in the second half at Reading

Personally think this is one of the biggest games for a few years.  Absolute must win.

Istead deserves to play - fuck knows who else to play but that's why they get paid the big bucks
    T. Watson can be rested for Ramsey....Edun gets a last chance before I lose my rag with him
Put Dobson back in his place in front of the defence and let Camara and Coventry do the scheming.  May behind Kanu up top OR May in midfield with Ladapoo (not a typo) and Kanu up top.

We as fans have a big part to play - it's got to be rocking as opposed to toxic.  I repeat - this is one of the biggest games we've had for a while.  A win stops the rot but a loss, or a draw,  puts up right in the shit with a few more nasty games upcoming.  Must win.

If we needed to win at Reading then we CANNOT afford to lose this!

Aspects of the performance were okay but we need more than okay at the moment.

Edun and T.Watson need dropping, that much I know and I agree with others that 442 diamond is needed.

Out on a limb, I think we will win but scrappy but win is a win and it should do there confidence the world of good.

    1-0 Alfie May.

Anyone managed to get this free ticket thing to work on the website? I've added it to the basket but it is still full price.

Yes, but I'm using Chrome, and some are saying it doesn't work so well in Safari.
I basically selected my free ticket, and when I went to pay it asked me to log in. Once I'd logged in the ticket price changed to £0.00.

Doubt Small is going to get thrown straight in and equally doubt Camara is ready to be starting but I'd like to see Ramsay come in. Kanu should definitely start ahead of Ladapo, much better to have Ladapo coming on against ragged defenders in his current state than starting off and losing all hope by 50 minutes. By the time defenders are getting tired Ladapo has already run out of puff and his loose touch is pounced on by fresh opposition players. In the midfield 3 it turns out Louie Watson isn't quite the messiah people had hoped but he has some creativity in him at least. Ideally Coventry, Dobson and LWatson until we hit a stage where Camara can come on. After that it's just praying Chuks is ready to be in the squad.
I expected us to lose the Reading game as they're in good form and they feel like Wigan did in the Championship relegation season where everything out of their control has gone so badly wrong they've got that siege mentality and are getting points through force of will. This Lincoln game though we do need to win. Get a first home win under Jones and we can show ourselves that we know how to win matches. I think we'll be ok after that, we can get the players to breathe a bit and start enjoying football again. Right now it's so tense all the time because that win just hasn't come. Fail to win though and we go up against our decades long bogey team Bolton, our free points team Pompey in their best form in years and another fun Derby match in a darker mindset before 4 teams we need to kill. 3 points off Lincoln and then a bit of positivity going into Bolton and Pompey is what we need. Time to deliver/start prepping for Newport losses being twice a year instead of once.

The only real positive I can see is that Lincoln aren't in great form and hopefully we can use that as impetuous to not have this season as an utter abject failure, just a huge failure

Make sure we get 100% behind the team tomorrow, because that always guarantees a win as we saw on Saturday.

Lincoln are unbeaten in their last 5 league games (2 wins, 3 draws)

I was surprised by how good Lincoln looked when we played them at their place. With their recent form this is another tough game. Still far too early for Jones to have had any meaningful stamp on the squad, but he should at least know who to drop following Saturday.

    1-1
  • We really need points, but just hard to imagine us winning at the moment.

Sorenson had an absolute field day in the reverse fixture against Thomas at left back. Not sure Edun would fare much better though...

This Lincoln team loves a scrap AND they have some good players .. they are on a decent run, have one of the meanest defences in the League and don't concede many .. we all have ideas about what team and formation we want us to play, Jones needs to be very exact in who he selects and how they line up
Goes without saying that we are now in survival mode and (cliché time) only the strong survive .. I fancy us for a scrappy 1-0 win, ANY win, any other result at home NOW is not acceptable

If we are fully behind them we might win or we might lose
If we are booing and abusing them we will lose.

Edun may have pace but he can’t cross the ball (did you see the X clip where he hits the first defender, gets it back, then hits the defender again last Saturday). Brain dead player.

Play without wingback, start Kanu and May up top and I fancy a rare Charlton victory.

Id argue that your average Charlton game has a mixture of both....

Must not start with Loadopoo, need Kanu with May. Hopefully Chuks can play some minutes
