looking forward to the Spurs/Geordie game .. both really need a win to get back in the mix1
-
Very impressive half from Spurs there.1
-
Poor old Trippier trying to work out what Son’s going to do.0
-
Having not scored for Spurs with anything but his head previously, Richarlison has scored twice today with his feet. He had also not found the net in his previous 19 PL starts.3

How is that not a red?3
-
Newcastle need to find cover for Pope!!0
-
Romero is an absolute prized grade A bellend.
He is an absolute mentalist, just why FFS?2 -
Spurs have spent the 'Kane Money' very well, they play really entertaining football, yet like all great teams retain a touch of nastiness0
-
good games today0
-
Chelsea are below Brentford and Fulham in the table .. must be a long time since that's been written1

The thing is, we've played like that in the majority of our last 6 games, apart from Wolves away and we've been guilty of not taking chances. We should have blown Villa and West Ham out of sight by half time.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Very impressive half from Spurs there.
Young Sarr made a huge difference today being back alongside Bissouma. He's so much more mobile than Hojbjerg and it allows Porro and Udogie to bomb forward when Bissouma and Sarr can cover either flake behind them.

Saw some rumours online that they might move for De Gea in January.ForeverAddickted said:Newcastle need to find cover for Pope!!
Not sure they will though, as when Pope is back in April you then have the same issue as Arsenal where you've got two number 1 keepers. Maybe De Gea will agree to a short term 6 month deal?0 -
Can't they sign him whenever, he's a free agentChris_from_Sidcup said:

I don't know why De Gea is unattached, as presumably he will have had offers from Europe and Saudi. I can't see him getting any better short term offers than Newcastle.1
-
They can yes but i think he'd need special permission from the PL to play before the window opens, which given they still have 2-3 other keepers available is unlikely.sam3110 said:

Good point. I'd forgotten about the strict squad rules in the PL and presumably the other top leagues.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Newcastle's squad will need a major overhaul and 'upgrading' probably in the spring. It would be no surprise to me if as well as an inflow of players, Eddie Howe and staff were replaced0
-
Hasn't Mourinho already been linked?0
-
wouldn't be a surprise though his last Prem jobs ended badly .. the media will always be spouting well known names for top jobs with little to back up their claims/opinionsiaitch said:Hasn't Mourinho already been linked?0 -

Do they need a major overhaul? Remember they currently have a ton of injuries.Lincsaddick said:Newcastle's squad will need a major overhaul and 'upgrading' probably in the spring. It would be no surprise to me if as well as an inflow of players, Eddie Howe and staff were replaced
I think to seriously challenge the top 2-3 next season they probably need to sign top class players in 4 positions - left back, centre back, number 10, and a right winger. The priorities for me would probably be the number 10 and RW. Maddison was linked with them before going to Spurs, he'd have been a great signing. I wonder if someone like Sancho could kick start his career there.
But when they have everyone available the rest of their XI looks pretty settled - Pope, Trippier, Botman, Guimaraes, Tonali, Gordon, Isak.
And they have the likes of Schar, Livramento, Burn, Longstaff, Joelinton, Barnes, Almiron and Wilson as back up. That's a strong squad and nowhere near needing a major overhaul. Man U need a major overhaul.4 -
they need four players by your reckoning, a third of the team, is that not a major overhaul ? .. and most of the (my highlights) players you mention are i m o nowhere near good enough to constitute a top 2/3 team .. the current squad is aging and unless there is a lot of new blood will not come close to a Champs League slot next seasonChris_from_Sidcup said:

4 players in a squad of 25 isn't that many. Most clubs sign that many just to refresh the squad year on year2

its not the squad I'm really referring to although I reference it in the original post, it's really the regular starting Xl that i m o needs a right good clear outsam3110 said:4 players in a squad of 25 isn't that many. Most clubs sign that many just to refresh the squad year on year0 -
Premier league sides can’t make a decision on a £44m payment. That’s little to a few of them, but divided over 20 sides is absolutely nothing, yet they can’t easily agree.clive said:0 -
As Sam already said 4 players added to their squad is not a major overhaul. And they could probably make do without a new left back. A top quality CB, number 10 and right winger i think are musts though.Lincsaddick said:

Also the players you've highlighted are the ones i mentioned as back ups. 5-6 of them being ones who got them top 4 last season, so i think they're more than capable of doing a job as a squad player if the first XI is improved.1 -

I absolutely agree with this , I don't think they are that far off , it's just injuries have exposed how thin their depth is. 4-5 signings between January and next summer will sort them out. They could do nothing about Tonali their marquee summer signing suddenly being banned for gambling either.
A quality CB that's an upgrade on Schar and Lascelles and a bit more creativity I think will be the main targets.0 -
as 'they' say, we will seeChris_from_Sidcup said:
