He is a goal scorer. There are players who can score goals, but goal scorers are a much rarer commodity.

He is that. Thing is, as the game changes "pure" goalscorers are becoming increasingly rare, particularly at the higher levels. He's got a natural instinct and ability to finish opportunities but I think he needs to develop the rest of his game if he's going to make it to the very top.

And how Cafc could've done with that last night if you had both the fresh legs of Camará and Kanu and the baller in Louie Watson to replace the fading Fraser, CBT and Tyrese Watson on the night.

Daniel Kanu is 19 next month and will be raring to go in January back at Cafc.

He's on an initial month loan IIRC so can come in a week or so's time.

Guess it depends on Chuks injury

Good prospect though he is, I really don’t think Kanu would’ve solved our problems last night… another case of a player being a saviour when he’s not available for selection?

Alfie May can, and did, run all night for you up front. It didn’t make any difference when the defending isn’t up to scratch.

Could be recalled from Southend given Chucks latest set back, as the minimum 28 day period will be up end of the week. Would then be available for FA Cup next Sunday as never played in Southend’s loss to Yeovil in the last Preliminary round. Appleton has  said it is an option.

Tricky one really as obviously Charlton have to be the priority, but on the other hand it's undeniably going to be better for his development to stay at Southend.

Not sure we need to recall him just to play v Cray, we could probably play Tedic and Kirk up front and should still win.

Agreed about his development but I wasn’t just thinking about the cup game, we only have three so called ‘strikers’ in Leaburn, May and Tedic.

But we only ever start with one so surely three is sufficient.

I'd leave him at Southend unless we got another injury

You can recall him just for the cup game.
Southend will not be happy having him cup tied.
But it might be good for us. So we can rest a player.

Why... they're out of the FA Cup?

I would rather see what Tedic could do as a CF than bring Kanu back

Agreed. I wasn't over convinced by the signing of Tedic, but he deserves a chance in his proper position.

True ………….. at the moment 😉. Apples might decide to go two up top we’ll soon find out. I’d rather Kanu than Kirk though if needs must.

May has been playing in behind a striker in all bar the last game and in my view , that’s the way forward.

    "Option"?
    It's a requirement
After May & Leaburn, Daniel is our next most able goal scorer
Games are now routinely 98+ minute affairs and it is a 16 man game
He's been blooded and proved himself
The only barrier to his regular inclusion in the matchday 18 has taken to his sick bed again.
Not recalling DK now would be wilfully chucking league points and cup progression away.
If better than DK and fitter than CA(!) is recruited in January, then we've had a sensational window* (spoiler alert: ain't happening), then he could be loaned again late January for his development.  Until then the club and its results come first.
FWIW I've got no money on Apples doing the obvious and right thing for the squad here and now.

    * whatever budget is available in the January window has to be devoted to filling the voids at CH and LB.  For all the deadwood and makeweights elsewhere in the squad nowhere is as grim as the defence.

Would it be cruel to fetch back Kanu and give them Kirk?

We have three fit strikers competing for one role in MA’s favoured formation. What’s the point in recalling a fourth?

What!. It maybe his preferred option, but there may be times when we would want to or should play 2 up front. Every week in my opinion. If another striker gets injured, then where are we then? It could be a month til we can get him back, possibly losing many points

I was under the impression that past 28 days, he can be recalled at any time.

IF a player in his position happened to get an injury that sidelined them for a couple of games, I would also be in favour of bringing him back.
