Celebrated someone’s passing a few months ago with a balloon release, which was quite emotional and felt very fitting.
Must be honest, no environment impact and animals etc crossed my mind for a second. People do these things with only with good intentions in mind
Hopefully now that a few more people have been educated about the harms this can do, they will find a better way of remembering a life.
When I depart this earth I want my ashes to be fired into space in a large firework and be scattered to the four winds. Don’t really care about any environmental impact.
Our Karen's do love an argument. I reckon those against the releasing of balloons should turn up and stage a protest before they can be released. I'd love to see how it unfolds.

It's had a bigger reaction than a very tough to watch video someone made for his love ones to watch after he killed himself.
Well this has all been very educational as usual on CL. I have now been schooled on environmental issues and of course, the local airport.
Fortunately I do not suffer from Globophobia but I have stood on the same precipice that this man did early on Sunday morning, staring into oblivion. Thankfully though, the love of family and friends put a collective hand on my shoulder and lead me safely away.

No offence to family, friends and acquaintances, but I've followed Charlton home and away for over 50 years and I'd never heard of nor recognise Dave Courtney. RIP.
ME14 seems a easy target. I tend to disagree with almost everything she's ever posted, but I'm not sure why she's getting grief over this topic of which she's pretty much bang on.
I should add, RIP. I couldn't watch much of the video, just made me incredibly sad how matter of fact he was being. I had no idea he was a Charlton fan, not a name that's popped up on lists before as far as i remember.

The bloke was a fan who done quite a bit for charity and who took his own life relatively publicly. Personally can't see how people clapping in his memory would trigger anyone. It's not compulsory to join in and it's not like it's being arranged officially by the Club.
