I need to download some Microsoft application called Silverlight to view some photos. Anyone have any idea as to why I might need this; what it does; and what practical issues I might face if I do this?
It's Microsoft's own version of Adobe Flash. Just like you need Flash installed to view some online media, the same is true now with Sliverlight (although it seems a bit of a pointless excercise for them to have developed it in my opinion). I have it installed and haven't had any issues with it at all.
