Great debut by Atkinson, record bowling figures for an England debutant.2

Embarrassingly one sided game for the Kiwis though.1

Ian Bell and James Foster doing a fine job coaching the Kiwis. Maybe we can get Stuart Broad and Monty Panesar to coach India, and Matt Prior and Tim Bresnan to coach the Aussies next

If only terrestrial TV could show T20 matches, but because they can't, they have to have The Hundred. But wait, they ARE showing ENG v NZ T20s.....0

Malan's feet appear to be glued to the pitch.0

24 off 18 while the bloke who wants his place is already in the hutch.0 -
Was Bairstow absolutely brilliant or have the rest been a bit shit?0

Bairstow reaped the benefit of opening against a hard ball bowled by seamers. One bowler particularly allowed both him and Malan to improve their R/R - Jamieson. He has just come back from injury and literally could not bowl two balls in the same place. He went for 35 in his two overs with Bairstow scoring 17 off 6 balls and Malan 13 off 4 balls.
It is much harder to play spin on this wicket too and it wouldn't suprise me if we didn't open one end with spin.1 -

Sorry. Hadn't realised it was a rhetorical question but thought you'd just caught the end of the innings and seen the scorecard.Cafc43v3r said:

I think I'm with Weegie on T20s after the Ashes. We're going to the ODI v NZ at Lords, but think (hope I'll be ok 50 overs1
 -
            Enjoy, Fiona.
We seem to have lost the plot a bit in the last two T20s.1 -

Thanks. I agree with what you said before; it just have the same tension and meaning after the Ashes and feels a bit incidental.Weegie Addick said:Enjoy, Fiona.

A colleague has said previously to me he wasn't into anything other than test cricket and certainly not T20. And I couldn't understand how he couldn't appreciate other formats. His stance has changed a bit, mostly re 50 overs but ironically mine seems to have changed the other way0 -

The T20 series might not matter much, but the NZ ODI series DOES matter as the last competitive 50 over games before the WC.3

Limited overs is decent when it means something.
Warm up series or those tacked on after a big Test series feel a bit Test Match against Ireland/EFL Trophy.

It's a bit odd that we have 4 ODIs against NZ, followed by 3 against Ireland.
Surely you want the tougher matches afterwards?0 -

I suspect that it is so the NZ players can go home for a week or so rather than flying from here to India. Their last match here is on 15th and their first game in India is on 29th whereas our last game against Ireland is on the 26th and we play India on the 30th.killerandflash said:It's a bit odd that we have 4 ODIs against NZ, followed by 3 against Ireland.

England Women are running into a bunch of extremely rude awakenings atm0

Just turned the game on. Very green pitch that0

I expect this has been posted elsewhere but Zak is to captain ENG in the 3 day ODIs v Ireland (none of the WC squad will play) with a somewhat shorter vice captain (who seems to actively choose to stand between the 2 tallest players during the anthems during the Ashes!!1
