After the window closes
"We tried very hard to get deals across the line. Indeed we had a couple lined up today, but unfortunately they fell through at the last moment, not due to problems at our end. It's frustrating, but there are good free agents out there which we will be looking at, and the return of Fraser and Leaburn will be like two new signings."20 -
"And we're happy to announce the signing of Macauley Bonne, who has another point to prove."killerandflash said:After the window closes

More fool him for believing the bullshit he's fed by CM or whoever his source is.ShootersHillGuru said:To be fair to him he’s been given positive information for some time and has passed on what he could. If it all turns to shizer he has the right to be angry.9 -
I'm expecting this week a lot of talk about 'how bad things were under Sandgaard' etc. Etc.
Anything to deflect from the obvious calamity that is this summer recruitment.8 -
Whilst i agree that the summer recruitment hasnt been the best so far and very slow, I'm inclined to cut the new owners a bit of slack. They were set to buy us in January, which wouldve given them a few months to assess everything about the club from top to bottom, settle in and start the recruitment process before last season ended. Instead, Sandgaard dicked them about, tried to sell to a 'higher' bidder, that fucked up so he went back to se7 to resurrect the deal thus delaying everything months. Imo, some fingers of blame should be pointed at Sandgaard.SELR_addicks said:I'm expecting this week a lot of talk about 'how bad things were under Sandgaard' etc. Etc.

Just shut the fuck up you idiotRonnieMoore said:Thought Hector and Jones were very good today .. but not sure what happened with the second goal did Hector get a call from AMB or another player .. he sort of went to leave it ??31 -
This is what DH has said:-
“It’s not easy to get deals done. There is a certain profile of player we’re chasing at the moment and there aren’t many of them out there. Most of the same clubs in the Championship and League One are chasing these same players. There is no blame going anywhere!
I think he meant to say CM is in control and we have no money, and the situation is not going to improve, we will end up with the dross and panic as usual and scrape away from relegation, I really hope I'm wrong and don't mind eating humble pie!7 -
A bit odd for me to stick up for a bloke who sends me abusive private messages from time to time, but he’s a victim of a Charlie Methven approach to “communications with fans” which a host of Sunderland fans warned us about in public on Twitter.ElfsborgAddick said:ShootersHillGuru said:To be fair to him he’s been given positive information for some time and has passed on what he could. Am not sure why, he was used as a leak for information, he must have known that.

My transfer rumour - time to sign some dickheads, we're too nice.

They had plenty of time whilst doing DD to check out likely transfer targets. It was no hidden secret that we had 10+ players out of contract / going back to their parent clubs and that some of the contracted players weren't good enough. In fact, the protracted negotiations (from March time ?) would have meant that they had 4 months to sound out players / agents before the transfer window even opened.Redvalleyeast said:

So to say that the delay in their player recruitment was no fault of theirs is laughable. Or did they just turn up in early July with a blank piece of paper ?20 -
Charlton are favourites to sign Birmingham City striker Sam Cosgrove on a loan switch.Cosgrove has been chased by several League One clubs and will decide where to go this week.Dean Holden is also looking at right back Fankaty Dabo in training ahead of offering a deal. He is a free agent since leaving Coventry.
Nothing we really didn't know already from Nixon.12 -
Not too late to salvage this transfer window, but apart from the defeats last season, the most deflated I felt was the on the last day of the summer transfer window, a wrecking ball of inactivity that sabotaged all hope of a promotion push.
I'm setting my expectations lower this time to avoid a repeat of how let down I, and I'm sure most of you, felt by it. Get some in!

It just feels the amount of players in we'd realistically need to make a real push is never going to happen and we'll be left short somewhere by the end of the window and be paying for it by October.1
-
Problem now is that either most of our backline are inadequate and have to be replaced or our manager cannot get them organised and will need to be replaced.0

Dabo's highlight reel looks good but it still concerns me that no one else has come in for him post the issue he had during the medical.MarcusH26 said:Charlton are favourites to sign Birmingham City striker Sam Cosgrove on a loan switch.Cosgrove has been chased by several League One clubs and will decide where to go this week.Dean Holden is also looking at right back Fankaty Dabo in training ahead of offering a deal. I believe it is a bit of both, mid table centre backs but also multiple coaching teams who have been unwilling to focus on making us defensively smarter.Southbank said:Problem now is that either most of our backline are inadequate and have to be replaced or our manager cannot get them organised and will need to be replaced.0 -
Don't forget that after the window closes, we can still get the out of contract players nobody else wants 🥴26

Not a serious, genuine poster - just ignore as much as possibleRonnieMoore said:
Personally I think Jan will be more important then this window, a fit squad and we have the ability to get top 6 , just having Leaburn and Fraser in the first 3 league games the way they went I think it would have been 3 wins … but our aim is to be in the pack come end of December and then invest again in jan and as we seen many times teams even as low as 10-12 have gone on a run and got into top 6 after Jan .. hopefully we will be one of the stronger side’s financially in Jan.Leuth said:
This doesn't make sense. There will definitely be more transfers in this window. The question is of what qualityMendonca In Asdas said:I’m reckoning, that’s it for transfers, we’re saving the budget for January.1 -
I always hate the January window. Would rather have all our major business done in the summer. January is just panic time and fees are usually inflated with a shorter window for clubs to work with.3

Fact is with FFP think it’s realistically going to take 3 windows to get our squad to a level it needs to win league one and have a chance of holding our own in championship …MarcusH26 said:I always hate the January window. anyone can have a great run in this league and get into the play offs but how many teams in recent years have come back down straight away because their squads were not ready

But we are minted and lots of big name players will come in before the window closes? You change your time more often than I change my pants and I change them daily!RonnieMoore said:
