Only 49 overs bowled in those two sessions, very poor

9 of those 49 have been bowled by their spinner too
Play should just continue until all 90 overs are bowled (less any for change of innings). If there was rain they could play until 7.30 so why not for slow play?

    Would be finished by 7ish.

Tbf the Aussies do spend most of the time collecting the ball from the boundary and crowd  :)

    Bit black over Bill's mums.
Who is bill and what his mum gets up to on a Saturday afternoon is not for us to judge

Start at 10 and the session doesn't finish until 30 overs are bowled

Lead of 400 would make for a tasty end to the series.

For the second test in a row deliberately slow over rate by Australia. A disgrace and a stain on the game. Cricket authorities need to do something about it,say 6 runs for every over not bowled in a 90 over day.

I still think weather will be an issue for the rest of the match. I can see Australia being 5 down tomorrow evening, with rain ending play early, and a nervous Monday affected by rain.

I think both sets of fast bowlers look ground down, the absence of a decent spinner being a major problem for both sides.

Extras would usually be our top scorer.

The way they've come out after tea doesn't look like they are setting up for a declaration.

Weather is looking a bit better than it did on Thursday. I think Stokes will contact 400+ lead and either declare over night or an hour into play tomorrow.

I'm surprised that isn't taken into consideration. 6 dots balls back to the spin bowler (back in day) and the over is gone in 2 minutes.

Baz ball with Brains or Baz ball with nous is a wonderful sight. The polar opposite to the Birmingham test in 2nd innings.

Bravo Bairstow, you will always be a scapegoat but brave knock today. Will never be a better keeper than Foakes but can score high and quickly.

After 65 overs, England were 332-4

By contrast, Australia were 161-5 at the same point in their innings

Run rate dips below 5 for the first time this innings.

Mainly down to Ali not able to take quick singles and not slogging either.

As I typed that Woakes is out.

7 down with a lead of 352. Could do with another 30 or 40.

Not convinced we quite have enough here….. rain on Monday might have convinced Stokes we have enough not to lose at least

With a lead of over 360 I just don't understand the need to go after every ball. Build sensibly on what you already have and get as big a lead as possible.
