Worried tbh. Similar pitch and same bowlers to when India got bowled out for 36. I know they won the series but I can see England being absolutely bundled here. And I've generally been positive about England's chances
Yep, I've woken up with similar fears. Hope I'm wrong but I think today could be a disaster

I have got a glass half full - we bat all day score 350 and give the bowlers some rest to pile into the Aussies tomorrow

My concern is that England are once again having to think about the weather when considering their tactics.

Without any chance of rain, there's 3 days left. Instead, we don't know how much play will be lost, and when to declare (if in that situation).

Rain in Swanley. Only 15 miles from the ground. Delayed start ?

    Similar score to first innings.

Coin flip if Aussies chase it down

If you are struggling to understand this bonkers Ashes series then read the tortoise and the hare.
I believe you know who won that race.

Are England not two bowlers down with Mo and Ben ?
    Where will Ali bat ?
Number 10 and try to break the 6's record ?

Remember that 100 run lead Australia had as well?

Convinced that the new ball as been the best time to bat this series.

    Sorry Dad.

    Who put you in charge?

Just merely highlighting the ridiculously over-pessimistic outlook of some. And I rate myself a pessimist too, but I'm like Mr Positive on an overdose of positive pills compared to some!

    But consider me told off.

Ps. And since we're telling each other off,  it's "your", not "you're".

    Enjoy your day!

I'm becoming more positive. Aussies bowling/tactics are worse than ours yesterday evening!

Before this Innings Crawley had averaged 55 in this Ashes series and Ben Ducket 34.
That is the long and the short of it.

Stokes to come in at 3, let's hope, not any time soon.

Ridiculous that Root can't come in at 3 now. I can understand him not wanting to come in in the 2nd over, but we're an hour into the innings now. PLUS Root has had all morning to prepare, it's not as if he's been fielding for 4 hours.

He might not get a chance to bat.  Stokes comes in at 120/1 and puts on a 250 run partnership with Crawley. Declares on 375/1.

    Have that Root  !!!

The average opening partnership in this Ashes series by Zak and Ben is 44.
Since 2010 after Cook and Strauss it had been 21 in Ashes tests !

It's been quite easy for openers in this series when compared to the last few years

Let’s hope for another mammoth innings from Crawley. Bit concerned at Stokes coming in at 3, could work but I sometimes doubt his judgement but then again what do I know!

50 partnership up between Crawley and Stokes after 41 balls

How much rain is forecast over the next two days? Do we need all six sessions or could we feasibly bat until lunch tomorrow?
