I think we have to assume we'll get some play on the final 2 days. If both days are totally washed out, then so be it, as Test matches don't conclude within 3 days unless it's a minefield, which this pitch isn't.
I would try and get 100 more runs as quickly as possible then put them in before lunch.
If the conditions for the last 3 days were the same as the first 2 I would bat as long as possible today.2 -
Yes, the weather looks better here even though we are going to get rain.0
-
Bat like a T20 till lunch, get them in with the overheads for the rest of the day, and hopefully have 200+ to play with9
-
I think we need to bat like a T15. We need to be bowling before lunch if the weather permts but the better the lead the more pressure on the Aussies.1
-
Agreed. Go really hard for 15 overs, try and get another 120-130 and have a few at them before lunch.
I dont think Starc will be bowling this morning and imagine the Aussies will be using every trick in the book to try and slow down the game from ball one.1 -

In reponse to the gamesmanship at Lords, we need our batters to mess up the pitch as much as they can this morning. The Aussies gave us a free cheat card.1
-
*great escape theme intensifies*1
-
We should also remember 2019 when the Aussies retained the ashes after drawing 2-2. We were chasing the win at Lords despite the last 2 days being rain affected. Could have been very different with the weather behaving.0

Got a horrible feeling that the Aussies are gonna bat for a draw and will end the final day 7/8 down.0

IF we can win at old trafford, i think a 3-2 win could be in the bag. Back-to-back tests at the oval and the aussies looked completely shot yesterday. Let's hope God is an englishman..1

The Crawley-Root stand, of 206 at 6.94 per over, was the fastest-scoring Test partnership of 200 or more ever recorded. It was also England's first double-century stand in a home men's Ashes Test this millennium.
Let's hope both records have to be rewritten this morning.5 -

Win this one and not only is momentum with us but we are firmly in the driving seat selection wise.0 -
I said Baz ball with nous would be the best way to play but after the amazing innings by Zak Crawley yesterday, Baz ball with luck as the usual mix of Sublime to the ridiculous for Zak yesterday saw him to 189 and nearly an average of 40 in tests in England.
Forget his poor average everywhere else.
Momentum is everything in Cricket and we need to hammer them as an Aussie attack without* 'Gary' looks vulnerable and unbalanced.
Let's be on a Desmond going into the last;
Weather permitting!
*Nathan Lyon around 500 test wickets and 23 fifers.
Coming after the genius that was Shane Warne, Lyon will never get the credit he deserves.

Out first ball of the day. 0-90. And two dropped catches.
Cummins has probably had better days as Captain.0 -
Proper get the fuck on with it shot there from Stokes2

What do we need from today? Bat until we're all out and then try and bowl them out over 2 days impacted by weather, and if it gets that far a t20 style batting approach at the end?0

another 100 on the board and we could squeeze a win by an innings.0

TMS are being scathing of the Aussie tactics here.
The Aussie commentator that is.0 -

Aussies normally try to win 5 nil but they were 2 nil up and Australia have had a defensive mindset since. Australia knew the teams were evenly matched but they lost their premier spinner and the new kid they didn't trust to play more than one test.
They are 2-1 up and unless we can beat them up today we have limited time left because of nature.0 -
Could someone put the score up occasionally as this is the option of keeping in touch in Stockholm at the moment on an American cruise ship and for dome unknown reason won’t show it😀. Thank you.1
-
Not taking the new ball, as they fear it'll fly to the boundary quicker0
