I’m excited to see Brook, Stokes and Bairstow bat in this situation.

Would even bring Wood up to 8 if it gets that far

    178 runs in the session
    Absolutely bonkers
And it was only 25 of the possible 30 overs!
Takes a long time to get the ball back from the crowd!!

England could have a 100+ lead tonight!

Being a cricket novice can I ask you followers..... why dont England just let rip now and start trying to smash everything ? 8 wickets left if they could put on another 200 ish runs surely that would give them a great chance of beating the weather ?
Only 15 minutes until tea… I suspect they’ll do exactly that after the break
guaranteed we have 30 mins crack at the aussies tonight.
    Why?

    Bat big, bat once.

Best thing we can do if we think it'll be a short Test surely.
While we are on top we need to keep batting. Keep going like this against tired and dispirited bowlers.

100 runs in the session for Zak as well

This has been coming for Zak, as he's looked good most times he's batted, but then got out. Today he's had the luck he hadn't got in the previous Tests.

We are now odds on as a result of that session:

    England 1.99
    Australia 7.60
    Draw 2.72

Yeah well Bazball broke the spell. And don't you dare mention my pre-Ashes musings about Green vs Stokes

  • So pleased for Crawley.  Many people (myself included) felt he'd had enough chances & shouldn't be in the side going into this Ashes series.

He's been 1 of our best players in the series  Credit to McCullum & Stokes for seeing what a lot of us didn't!!!

Leaning this way more and more personally. Yes you take a chance with the weather but the Oval Test is right around the corner and this is a huge opportunity to heavily wound Australian morale ahead of that game.

#WoakesStat: The last ball he bowled completed a five-for, dismissing Australia. And the last ball he faced, he hit a match-winning boundary.

has anyone benefitted more from 'Bazball' than Crawley ?

No longer expected to adhere to traditional opening role of grinding out an innings, and no repercussions for a quick 30 and out

Aus going in with no spinner. Feel like it's a risk for them. Both Green and Hazlewood are fragile this will be Cummins 5th test back to back in an incredibly short time and he's bowled the most overs of these Aus bowlers. If we can take Head on as we will be aiming to do then it puts a lot on the quicks. If one breaks down in game then we can hopefully take advantage.

Feels like they are putting everything into this match which may put them in a difficult position selecting quicks come the Oval if we do manage to pull off a win in this game. Have we got them running scared?
As I said, a risk for the Aussies putting this side out. Feels like all of their eggs in this basket and it might have an effect on who is available for the Oval.

Starc looking like he's got an injury. Is he even on the field post tea? If he can't bowl in this game, or even if he gets through this game but cant play at the oval it puts them in a pickle. Hazlewood and Green are being managed and bowling less overs. Head has been hit out the attack. Cummins keeps running in but this is his 5th test in a row and he's bowled a serious amount of overs this series. Can he keep his intensity up if he has to shoulder even more of the burden for the rest of this test and the next?

I think we can expect the full playbook from Australia from now on - whenever they're losing resort to same old tactics and gamesmanship

Fielding and no balls starting to show the Aussies are flustered!

Surprised it took them this long to bring Marsh into the attack.

Hazlewood aside, the most Woakes-like bowler they have
I don't think before the series anyone imagined we would be discussing which Australian bowler is most Woakes-like!

Cummins looks quite tired, bowling in all 4 Tests AND being captain is seriously hard work.

Lyon is a massive loss for them.

Now our leading scorer in the series (admittedly he's had more innings than Stokes as it stands!).

I wonder when they will resort to a "Mankad" or a "Carey"! or just grind the over rate to a halt with fielding changes every ball - wasting a few seconds here and then moaning about the ball to the umps.. Or maybe someone goes down with "cramp" once or twice.

Crawley hasn’t changed how he’s played at all. There have been plenty of streaky moments in his innings.

He gets out for 30 and it’s called reckless but when all his shots go in the gaps it’s not reckless. 🤷‍♂️

Or make it rain all day, the cheating bastards.
