If anything it's more a case that I'm saying KP probably meant it was food for thought for the England bowlers not to bowl short at him. At least in my charitable reading
PS The offer at Avery Hill is still there. The machine comfortably goes up to 90mph. The even better news is that the rubber matting on that hard floor means that the ball picks up even more bounce and pace. I can't guarantee, though, that any two balls, on the same length, will produce the same bounce. Great prep though for the real thing and will certainly force you to watch the ball!!!1 -
Whatever happens, why can't Stokes bat like this all the time? Pacing himself to get himself in, and then accelerating. A brilliant innings.
Since Bazball started, he's tended to go mad at the start and go cheaply.4 -

Atherton just said 'Bairstow controversially out but not unfairly'.0 -
The Lord's lunchroom will be interesting, as both teams share the same room...0

Alterations in the Long Room.
MCC member unhappy that he got woken up from his slumbers....😄3 -
Well if they don't feel ashamed of themselves, they should feel ashamed of themselves. No class.

Boos ringing out by the members in the long room. One member getting told off by a steward.I can see both sides. I’m livid we lost a wicket in a ‘stupid’ way. But don’t like underhand sneaky tactics. And I believe Aussies will do anything to win. Including underhand tactics and iffy sportsmanship.I’m not sure they need to.5

The bowlers especially seem pretty decent and likeable, Cummins comes across very well.

It looked as though Bairstow looked up at him and the umpire moved towards bowler taking the bowlers hat/glasses off. If that was the case should the umpire have intervened before it went to tv umpire?
i don't think it was cheating but definitely not in the spirit of the game. The Aussies should have warned bairstow what would happen if he walked off again1 -
Shame lunch came when it did. The mood Stokes was in, you wouldnt put it past him.
I get Bairstow was technically out, catch and throw in one motion by Carey but thats pre-meditated and is
not bloody cricket. Off a fast bowler, as soon as the ball hits the keepers gloves, it's an unwritten deadball, otherwise it would happen every bloody ball.
More fool Bairstow going walkabout but that dismissal totally sums up the Aussies win at all costs attitude.
You'll never see another team booed into the pavillion at Lords like that ever again.

Agree with Chizz, the umpires should have said stumped and the controversial would be over.0

According to the wireless there was the same incident in a county championship game earlier this season, involving Bairstow (dunno if he was the batter or the keeper), and it was given not out.0

I think it is a bit scummy but out. The group chats I'm in are about 75/25 in thinking yeah, fair cop, that's out but scummy.
Sky just shown the Colin de Grandhomme incident and also shown the fact Bairstow just moonman wanders out the crease after a load of deliveries. Smart but sneaky from Carey.
If it had been the other way round, would we be celebrating Bairstow's canny? Let's face it - probably.7 -

It's up to the Australian players - and, in particular, they're captain - to demonstrate that their action was within that spirit.
For me, a closer analogy was with Ian Bell at Nottingham in 2011. He was out of his ground having hit what he thought was a boundary. The ball was returned to Dhoni, keeping wicket. Dhoni took the balls off and appealed. The umpires reviewed the footage and (correctly) gave Bell out.
Dhoni reflected on his appeal during the following break and withdrew it, asking the umpires to rescind their 'out' decision. (Technically, they shouldn't have).
Bell resumed his innings. Dhoni received a Spirit of Cricket award from the ICC.
I don't think Cummins should expect to receive a similar letter from the ICC any time soon.0 -

Loved Broad being aggressively deliberate about keeping his bat in the crease and asking the Aussies if the ball was dead yet.6

You can see both sides of it. Bairstow isn't without blame. If Australia lose it may be argued that this affected them negatively.1

I'd have thought the same if we'd have done it.1 -
That "stumping" was as bad a bit of sportsmanship as an occasion of a bowler running out a batsman at the other end if the guy sets off too early, ruined a good game in my opinion and shows up the Aussies for what they are...clearly Bairstow was of the opinion the ball was dead...🤷♂️0
