Posters getting very twitchy now. The field's up to prevent the quick single. I think it's time to deploy the reverse ramp, but there's so much spin on this thread, that's going to be a hard shot to pull off. Don't want to charge the bowler and risk being taken high on the pad, relying on a DRS review to save us, given not out, umpires call. Knowing our luck, we'll probably get over the line commenting on another no ball!

Horse has bolted. Ton up!2 -
416 all out
4 or 5 overs to face before lunch?0 -

A better bowling performance by England. More intent.
That over by Root may have cost Australia 50-100 runs, as Head was playing so well., and Green also threw it away.0 -
Much better from England.
5 wickets in 90 minutes of play.
Just what was needed after yesterday's lacklustre performance.3 -

I agree that you need someone who call bowl quick, else it's all a bit samey.1 -

I know it's easy to say every part of every game is crucial, but I think we need to bat well here, as it will affect the rest of the series. 200 and the series is almost lost. 300 and we are struggling. 400 is good. 500+ we are competing hard.1

Danger period safely negotiated. 13-0 at lunch off 4 overs
Crawley 6* (18)
Duckett 7* (6)1 - Sponsored links:

Great memories on TMS at lunch - Cook talking about 2010/11.
Remember a few very tired days at work having stayed up way too late watching or listening to that series.

Great start - 50 up without loss1
-
Let's hope Crawley and England can build on this.0
-
Still Bazballing this, going at 5 an over0

Carry on like this and we will only be 50 odd behind at the close.0

Just thinking to myself "we're on top, no need to do anything stupid as we're scoring easily", and Crawley gives it away.
YET another stumping this series.0 -
And that in a nutshell is why England's approach is not succeeding this series2
-
Now that's wicket keeping. Wide to get a clear view of the line of the ball, hands go first, fast feet but with right foot still outside off stump so not too far away to take the stumping, hands riding with the bounce, no panic and clean take. Makes it look simple too.0

Dumb way to lose your wicket, but at least we've made a decent start. Interesting to see how Pope is after his injury.3

For all the money spent on Crawley’s education, common sense wasn’t taught was it1
-
The biggest opening stand by England in an Ashes test since 2010; it should've been so much bigger.
Crawley averages 28 for a reason. He can look brilliant and then throws his wicket away as if he's playing 20/20. Isn't it possible to play Bazball with just a bit of nous.2 -
Good start, frustrating Crawley gave it away, but at least he's giving it away on decent scores so far this series rather than nicking off for 12!1
-
It's a sign of the pace and T20ness of modern Test cricket that the stumping has become such a common dismissal this series. Root in Edgbaston, Head and Crawley here all stumped when completely on top.0
