On a very flat track, think the Aussies will be very happy to get 3.

i think australia might feel they've edged it this session on a very flat wicket.

It's 22 years since England last failed to win at least two Tests in a home Ashes series. Australia have brought far better players in each of the series since then and have failed to win any series.

    3-1 England.
Far better players than their 2001 squad? Do you want me to list it out? Oh wait, it's a Chizz post on a cricket thread, it's bait
Since 2001, Australia has brought far better players than their current team.

    A strange session.

Australia playingly very defensively, but end up taking 3 wickets. No maidens, and a record number of singles. Lyon bowling 6 overs before lunch on Day 1 in Birmingham. The umpires having 2 not outs overturned on review.

And one "out" not heard by any of the fielders. The umpire can't give it out if there is no appeal but how Erasmus didn't hear Crawley middling the ball off his glove is a difficult one to understand.

I don't even think this is true. I mean, even the 2005 team - would prime Shaun Tait have even a sniff of getting into their current side? Let alone the fading Gillespie?

Realised annoyingly I'm going up to Leeds halfway through the Test at Headingley - if I'd have realised I'd have maybe tried to get an early train and get tickets for the Sunday.
We got tickets for Sunday in ballot. Perseverance got us tickets for Saturday too. Defo keep trying they come up all the time.

mixed start by England .. obviously important that Root, Brooks, Stokes and Bairstow make a few .. Boland, a great find for Aussies, there is hope for professional sportsmen to start an international career over 30 years old

Nice interview with Stokes during lunch but his knee looked like it would implode if it wasn't for the huge amount of strapping holding it together.

This is either going to be 30 and out for Brook or a huge hundred.

Here's hoping that drop really costs the Aussies

The ball is following Head as well. You can guarantee that if he was sitting on the Aussie balcony, it would end up hitting him on the head.
