    Disgraceful.

England are playing test cricket like one day cricket. If everyone is fit Bairstow opens for England in one dayers.

Bairstow opens with Duckett and Crawley gets left out if they are determined to get Bairstow in the side.

If I was Foakes I would feel used and them to stuff it and play franchise during the winter.

Just to show there's no hard feelings, Foakes is taking Bairstow out for a round of golf this weekend

Bairstow has already wasted Englands first review.

Yeah leave out Stokes who won't play anyway and play both!

    Bairstow opening isn't the answer.

Making Pope as Vice Captain actually makes the situation worse TBH.

You can't fit Pope, Root, Stokes, Brook, Bairstow and Folkes into the same team, especially if Stokes can't bowl.

I honestly think that if Stokes wasn't captain, and let's be honest his is the heart and soul of the team, and couldn't bowl I don't think he would get in the team.

I know you're kidding but if Foakes' dad played golf with Key then maybe he'd be in the squad instead of Crawley

Foakes not being picked is a joke! Does anyone know his character, is a bad egg?

People saying that you need to have a proper opener and that Bairstow (or any others) aren't suited to it. Which would be a fair point if we had an opener who was suited to it. Carwley can hardly claim to be a proper opener at test level and its hardly like his gap between bat and pad is any smaller than Bairstows.

Arguably you'd get more from Zak if you batted him down the order than opening. As you would with Duckett and about every English batsman at the moment.

All noises coming out of the England camp is that bairstow has the gloves for the summer, unfortunately.

Normally I always want a cricketer to be successful whenever they pull on an England Jersey.
But part of me wants Bairstow to drop a couple of easy chances and get out for a duck when we play Ireland

    Impact of Farbrace?

I hope your top 3 all get tons and then Smith gets a golden!

A bit of Farbrace , a bit of having Robinson available and a bit of Pujara being an exceptional captain.

Yeah Farbrace has no doubt been the catalyst behind it. Gives the young players a lot more freedom, but by the same token expects them to work much harder. The whole side is a lot fitter and more disciplined. He's also shacked up with Ollie Robinson's mum so I think he's been threatening to send Ollie to his room if he doesn't get 10 wickets a game!

I also cannot get behind Steve Smith I hope he fails every innings! He makes us a weaker side as we can't pick McAndrew who balances the bowling attack. Ari Karvelas coming back from injury has been good too. Proper player

And Kavelas was playing 2XI on trial at various counties last season , what a find he's been. Also like Brad Currie too.

Don't especially want to see Hunt in any format really. Not sure what's going on with Garton either unless he's still coming back from concussion.

Wasn't expecting it after the chaos of last season with split coaches , about 6 different overseas in the Blast because of international duty and the weird departure of Ian Salisbury.

The sooner Harry Brook (Root and Stokes too) gets on the plane from the IPL and starts playing some red ball the better. He has scored 190 in 11 innings but 100* came in one game. Since that big one his scores have been 9, 18, 7, 0, 0, 27* and 0 (first ball today). Equally, Joe Root has scored 10 runs and bowled two overs since February and Stokes has 15 runs to his name and has bowled one over for 18 runs in the same period. That is not an ideal prep for The Ashes.

Not before time and due to the number of injuries our bowlers have sustained, Darren Stevens has been called up by England
