I was a Junior Red from the start. I'm now 50.

I was one of those who came on the pitch at Selhurst for our first match in Division One for 29 years against Sheff Weds. Anyone else on here do that?

I have a membership card No1 hidden away somewhere.
    Who’s shirt was you wearing?

Charlton or one of the other division one sides

Born in 1979. Joined JR in 85/86. Sadly haven’t been for three seasons.

My brother and I joined 86/87. I'm fairly sure the cards are still at my mums.

I really don't remember. Probably Charlton. I do remember that it was our only match in that Main Stand though. After that we stood at the Sainsbury's End. The season before we were in the Arthur Waite.

Does anyone remember the Junior Reds visit to Oxford when everyone was patted down and their bags searched as they got off the coach. Most of the kids were real youngsters.
I just happened to be passing by at that very moment.
I can remember throwing a full blown tantrum and heading straight for the Oxford offices where I gave a couple of bewildered people a full blast.
I then contacted both Oxford and our club by phone to make an official complaint a few days later.
Evidently more had been made of this than I realised and as I remember it, I wasn’t the only one to complain.
Have an idea the club made an official complaint, I think Rick picked up on it and it got a mention in VOTV…..though I’m not 100% sure about that.
Not sure what Oxford’s reply and justification was as that went under the radar, does anyone know the nature of their answer and whether or not they apologised.
This was going back a good few haircuts mind you!

I think I was one of the first ones to join up. Jackie Monahan was always superb with the JRs.

I won the junior reds raffle in the 85/86 season Xmas party at The Valley Club (even though we were at Selhurst by then)

Got tickets for the directors box and met the players before the match against Brighton (2-2 draw)

Still got the photo somewhere of Jimmy Hill shaking my hand on the stage with the players

    Good times

My son was junior Red in 1985 , we were playing at crystal Palace ground and his favourite player was Mickley Flanagan.  The referee gave him the 50 pence piece which was used for tossing up which team ko.
We still go but living in somerset not very often watch more on Charlton TV
