  • Josh Cullen has put Burnley ahead at Stoke. Looks like he will be playing PL football next season which might turn out to be somewhat ironic given that the Hammers could be heading the other way.
  • Brilliant 4-0 win for Rotherham over Blackburn. Washington with the 4th

Suspended 3 point deduction for Wigan

Wigan Athletic has received a three-point deduction to be suspended until 31 December 2023 after admitting to multiple breaches of EFL Regulations.
The sanction imposed is for failing to adhere to the terms of the Standard Contracts that were in force between the Club and its Players for the late payment of player wages on three separate occasions.
In addition, the Club’s owner will also be required to deposit an amount equal to 125% of the forecast monthly wage bill in a designated Club account, which may be called upon by the Club should there be any future delays in processing payments.

Championship promotion-chasers Sheffield United have been placed under a transfer embargo by the English Football League.
The move relates to a breach of rule 52.2.3, which concerns the default of payments to another club.
The EFL has not specified which club or player the matter relates to.
However, the move means the Blades cannot register a player "without the written prior consent of the league" until the overdue payment is made.

Tarique Fosu is at Rotherham on loan now after a fairly unsuccessful loan spell at Stoke.

Odd decline for a player who was instrumental in getting Brentford up

Maybe we should have re-signed him like all the other ex players people want us to take back.
  • 3 games off in our division. Blackpool's game against Huddersfield in the Championship also off

Also 10 points behind 5th, with a game in hand.  Beat them next week...

For me, this is why looking at a table and saying “x points behind x place” at this stage of the season is so silly.

Focus has to be on ourselves and trying to get two points a game. Nothing else really matters, until we’re 5-6 games from the end of the season and then start comparing where we are to teams around us.

    It’s not happening
we’re not good enough consistently enough

Oxford with a late goal to take the lead over Ipswich. As it stands, there’s now a 7 point gap between them in third and the top two.

That's suddenly a big gap to the front two, when most people would have expected Plymouth to be the team to drop off. Derby in 4th are closing Ipswich down too.

Only one win in their last six.
  • Quite a number of games tonight. There should have been 9 in L1, but 2 have been postponed due to the weather

Notice out of those above us in the League, only Peterborough have a game in hand on us.

Thats if no other games get called off - We'll know then what we need to do to climb the table

A couple of long away days tonight, Barnsley at Exeter, Pompey at Fleetwood. You really wouldn't want a late postponement!
