There’s a first time for everything and RD is an extraordinary complication but let’s not pretend Notts County, Wrexham, Halifax, Scunthorpe et al are comparable to us. They’re not.
We lost at Stockport just a few weeks back! Stockport were in the National League, the season just gone.
With all our 'pedigree', tradition, history, and all that - we are beaten by these existential facts - our recruitment is wrong, our coaching is weak, and our players lack the simplest of technique.
Every club in the third division has an owner not able, or willing, to spend. Every single club has injuries and illness - their best players are out with suspension, too. And yet, watch our men closely: they can't trap a ball, they can't tackle, they can't pass accurately, they can't shoot.
The teams that beat us routinely here, now, in the third division - their players are from academies, they are free transfers, and are scouted wisely from non-league. Yet they are far, far better players than our squad. And they win.
Look at Oxford today - quick, accurate, fluent. Each man knows the next move - sharp, smart and true. Instinctive and intuitive. Those qualities are discerned by scouts and taught at the training ground. Look at us! We have a throw-in, and you can see the cogs grinding in the dull brain: "What do I do now, boss?"
There is a congenital weakness about Charlton that goes back for decades. Raise the horizons. Sack the coaches at Sparrows Lane. Stop hiring fourth-division managers and fourth-division players.

Just watched the lowlights on the rolling reels thread.
CBT (?, couldn't see the shirt number) and Leaburn did well for Leaburn's goal. Looks like AMB's at fault for the third. Oh well.

The LB position is so painfully obvious a big part of our problem, but so is RB, CB and CF. We need to offload Stockley and keep Leaburn if we're to have a chance of staying up
If technically you arent good enough then you MUST put the effort in to grind out a result.

Henry in for Fraser was the only real tweak Holden appears to have made unenforced. And people have been moaning for weeks that Fraser isn’t at the races.’
Don't blame the manager, blame Sandgaard and previous owners who have run the club down to the extent where our squad is so weak we have to play the kids. Blaming Holden is letting TS and the others off the hook.
Holden chooses to play no wingers when he has CBT, Rak-Sakyi, Campbell & Kirk all fit & ready to start. Consequently he is responsible for us creating zero chances in the first half against both Peterborough & Oxford.
We desperately need him to sort out our team selection or we will be relegated. Kanu isn’t ready & shouldn’t be starting every game.3 -

Tbh I think he is trying to "shake it up" and show that no ones guaranteed a starting spot. We are also threadbare but no excuses, the kids tried with effort and no end product and the more senior pros (Clare mostly) had no willing or end product.se9addick said:

They were also a Premier League side just seven years ago - Add a further ten years on top of that for us - As a comparison the season under Powell helped, but we were getting decent crowds that year throughout.
Roland came in and we've been bleeding dry ever since, as fans have been turned away4 -
Unless we bring in a few quality players in January and I'm not sure we will.
Then come the end of the month we will be in the bottom four.
If that happens I believe we will go down as there is zero fight in most of our players.
Relegation is now a real possibility wheather we like it or not.

We were good, until they first got into our half and realized what freedoms they could enjoy.
When your core players are either crocks or would be fringe fillers for any competitive side and you're relying on kids as a result, is it any wonder we're in trouble. Lack of stability, a new manager, inheriting not only a poorly equipped squad but coaching staff too. He even asked Pearce to stick with the first team, which he declined to do acknowledging that he's not ready for that yet. I don't blame Holden, although that starting 11 was naive, but at least he changed it and made us competitive for the second half, which was a huge improvement on the first
Without drastic surgery to the squad though, which he acknowledged is imbalanced, he won't last long in the job IMO. There should be no more talk of climbing into top half of the table. All focus must be on recruiting to prevent more losses and relegation.
It's a shambles. We're not being run as a professional Club at the moment IMO.

Well, that was another mind numbingly boring game to watch wasn't it...first half slightly more shite than the second half, but still shite and embarrassing none the less, we are very quickly turning into every other clubs choice of opposition and an almost guaranteed three points.
Their first goal, well what a cock up, three defenders close in on one guy, and leave Bodin at the far post to say cheers lads, an easier goal he will never score, the only light on our attempt at joining in the match was Leaburn on for Stockley, man what a waste of space that guy is...
So on we go to Portsmouth and another installment of how to get yourself relegated without really trying, and in a game we have historically done quite well in, well, if ever the phrase "a must win game" was needed this is it.
My thoughts go to our great travelling Addicks again, and their endurance in turning up week in week out, shame the bloody players don't return the favour, and all I see is them patting each other on the back, and having quick chats with the opposition after the match, then off they pop home in comfort, collect their pay and stick two fingers up at the lot of us...🤷♂️5 -

He's new here and won as many games as he lost with Bristol City in the Championship 18, 19 if you included his 1 as Stoke caretaker. I don't think he's out of his depth. Do I think he'll succeed with us. Doubt it, but hope I'm wrong. If he doesn't, I won't see it as entirely a failing of his own making, as has been the case with most of TS's managers. As another poster said, you can't fix a car with no engine by changing the tyres.2 -

As someone else has said, we've TWO SUMMERS RUNNING recruited for a 433, then dumped the system and manager during the season, despite the fact that we don't have the players for a 352 type system either. Hence we started today without CBT, JRS or Kirk, 3 of our main creative elements, and played a completely rusty Thomas at CB just to keep the 3 at the back.
As for other individuals, Henry does have some ability but he can't play in a midfield two, as you need someone better defensively. In the first half our midfield was a void.
Watching the cycle repeat again is unbelievably frustrating
