I've never sung it, but always thought the "holding hands" chant to be relatively innocuous, seeing that it's not an attack on gay people or saying that being gay is bad, but rather a stereotype that all Brighton fans are gay. Based on Brighton being the unofficial LGBT capital of the country.
Yes I'm glad it's not being sung, but it's fairly innocuous when compared with the songs football fans sing without comment, such as Brighton singing about shooting the Palace scum or us building a bonfire to burn Millwall and Palace fans.
