That's a good trick if you can pull it offKarim_myBagheri said:what a mug... Yeah i'll be going. ffs. can't stand Charlton but i (probably the only Charlton fan who does) hate Brighton. Lived there for a few years and couldn't stand the place or the up their own arses people.0 -
Surely going to see a Prem team in the cup makes a current non regular a glory boy …. Not going means you’re totally fucked off with our shithouse clubDucktapeshoerepairs said:
It’s a cup game, it’s £15, it’s against prem opposition. Why wouldn’t you go ? Can’t believe Charlton have so many glory boy fans, bet you’d go if we get to the final …BigDiddy said:Not going, wont be going again until there is real positive change.
Varney is out of touch if he thinks one game will sway a deal.
Is he getting Roland on board to make sure he does not kill any “deal” with stupid pricing demands for the Valley?
Deals are done and then announced and not by getting fans to waste our well earned cash on the TS shit show on some half promise by a long gone official of a long gone CAFC.
If TS walks away, we will go into administration and then a buyer might come in, but in that event, RD will kill any deal because he will want, let’s say, £75m for the Valley and Sparrows.
As I said, its a shit show.5 -
But we’d sell out if it was Man Utd. So not really …oohaahmortimer said:

Some of the comments on here about Varney are a bit cringe.
CEO and major influencer during our most successful recent times, helped save the club subsequently when the spivs joined. They weren't great owners but got us promoted and left us in a better position whilst bringing some real quality players to the club.
I will buy my tickets and go to Brighton off the back of his Tweet. If nothing happens subsequently so be it, things change in business, deals fall over, but Varney has done enough for me to trust his word it is worth a go attending.45 -
Totally agree. PV is a Charlton fan and wants the best for the club. He isn’t part of the current regime, so can’t see him having any other agendaAthletico Charlton said:Some of the comments on here about Varney are a bit cringe.

i agree with this - forcing him out has backfired and some but shouldn't put a complete stop to genuine investors, with money in the bank, wanting to have a crack at making a success of a football club with potentialWK6824Nine said:
roland sold standard liege a bigger club than charlton for £25m who have a stadium exactly the size of ours. I think roland wants see us suffer, have the last laugh. the overvaluation makes no senseBigDiddy said:

Ronnie, how do work out that .............oh I can't be bothered!RonnieMoore said:
Agreed he will always hold a special place in Charlton history for saving the club when everyone else like Varney Barclay run a mile .. without him there would be no CAFC to moan aboutAddicksAddict said:
Sandgaard has undoubtedly made mistakes but putting him in the same bracket as the spivs, Roland, and the crooks who followed is a mite unfair.DDOUBLEE said:
Hard to be positive with the absolute shit run of owners we've had since 2014. It'd be nice if something comes from this but I'm not getting my hopes up...redbuttle said:
Nice positive approachSELR_addicks said:Anywhere close to 20k is fanciful.
Perhaps the potential investor has been sold a pipe dream and will get a shock when he turns up and the ground isn't packed full with revenue flying in.1 -
It was probably an editorial in the Plymouth local press.Bailey said:

I hope Garner is paying £15 for a ticket0

Reminds of when Sandgaard brought us and said that two of the things we had in place (which made us such an attractive proposition compared to other clubs) were the fanbase, and the Manager.
He's made us so fucking sellable in both cases now hasnt he3 -
With him sacking Garner, home selling the club is miles off0

How are you viewing things at present then?Ducktapeshoerepairs said:
Bet you are fun at a partyhoof_it_up_to_benty said:If a potential new owner is swayed by a large crowd against Brighton then it would suggest they are pretty clueless - getting another owner with no real knowledge or interest in football is not what we need.
However you dress it up we're a mediocre L1 side with a declining fan base.
Blindly optimistic ?2 -
Now hold on. Qatar is very nice at this time of year, and I believe there are upcoming deals to be made for stadia.se9addick said:
Whatever do you mean? Who wouldn’t want to own a manager-less money pit of a football club, currently 17th in League One which doesn’t own its own stadium?DubaiCAFC said:With him sacking Garner, home selling the club is miles off
Charlton Ash-Shahaniyah anyone?0 -
Varney needs to allude to why he wants us to be there. Especially after today.1

I've just bought two tickets.
One for me and one for my pitch fork!5 -
Plenty of owners have no football experience when buying clubs. If you have money to invest and employ people with the right experience then the club should be run well enough for you.StrikerFirmani said:
If it is a possible buyer with no football knowledge it is not necessary a problem if they have business acumen. Unlike TS they may well have the common sense to know you bring in the appropriate knowledge to run the business.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:If a potential new owner is swayed by a large crowd against Brighton then it would suggest they are pretty clueless - getting another owner with no real knowledge or interest in football is not what we need.

@_PeterVarney do you have any comments after what has happened at cafc today? Is the message still to turn up at Brighton? #cafc
— cafcfan1905 (@cafcfan1905) December 5, 2022Absolutely! More important than ever. I appreciate some fans are unfairly questioning my motives but as with the situation back in 2011 my only interest is the club which has given me so many good memories for the last 62 years.

Save us Peter1

after the shitshow of the last ten years I dont think it's at all unfair to question motives, no matter who the individual involved. I cant think of anyone in whose motives i would have more faith than PV when it comes to the ownership of the club, but not to question them in the light of recent history would suggest no lessons have been learned. A bit of clarification wouldnt go amiss.ForeverAddickted said:@_PeterVarney do you have any comments after what has happened at cafc today? Is the message still to turn up at Brighton? #cafc

More important than ever to line the pockets of an owner taking us into the ground?
I would hope any potential owner would just watch a video of the play off final if they want to see our potential.0 -
I would show them both play-off finals and the Chelsea Boxing Day game.3
-
And the Doncaster Semi final.4
