I have been patient with Sandergaard and don't agree with protests against him, but I really wish he would hold his hands up and say he has bitten off more than he can chew/doesn't have the time or financial clout to take us where we should be heading. We will tread water and gradually sink lower and lower all the while he remains.

I want Garner to stay and would like to see someone back him and let him build a squad suited to his style of play.
This, all day long. I’d love to see what Garner could do with an owner that backed him. Doesn’t feel like we’ll get the chance now.
I haven't seen anything from Garner to think he warrants a go with money. Some of the worst football we've ever played.

How can Sandgaard be asking any money for the club? Losing £8m a year and a first team squad worth zilch. You could make a case for a few of the Academy prospects but it all amounts to a row of beans. Sandgaard was stupid giving Southall and the Fake Sheikh anything. A new owner should avoid making the same mistake. Sandgaard has to give it away to get out of the money pit.

But who des Sandgaard 'give it' to? Another Southall ..... ?

    We've seen this movie before.

    Shameful.

    And that's mainly to Sandgaard.

To start a League match with no strikers on the pitch & the only recognised one sitting on the bench results in 1 thing.

    Defeat.

We play ok 2nd half & the Kirk offside looked marginal ( on from where I was sitting) but we could have been 2-0 down before halftime so we are only papering over the cracks.

You get what you pay for in life and as Sandgaard hasn't paid for anything this season then we deserve no more than where we are now.
  • Thought the defence was shocking in the first half - we really rode our luck.

Against Premiership opposition it could be embarrassing - does the club shop sell blindfolds?

My son and I are season ticket holders, so we took up the offer of two free additional tickets for tonight's match. My son chose to bring his mate + mate's dad. After the match, my son's friend said "Charlton are rubbish, I never want to see them again." Not sure this "giving tickets away" initiative is working the way the club had hoped!

This is starting to puzzle, frustrate and anger me.  This has been an issue since the Gillingham game in the autumn of 2020.  I think we have 3 of the same players.  None of the same coaches.

What's driving the culture?  A have a very strong suspicion but would be interested what others think is causing it?
  • Sandgaard needs to go

    Garner probably needs to go

Most of these players need to go

Going to have to start from scratch in all honestly

The other thing that really annoys me, and I appreciate it’s the market that dictates this, so there’s very little that can be done about it, but some of these players are probably taking home a fair few grand a week in wages. I have no idea if this is a realistic wage, but if just one of them is on 5k a week, that’s £250k a year before tax.  Not one single player in that squad deserves to be earning that sort of money for what they do.  Not one.  Regardless of it being a short career etc, it’s obscene that someone like Stockley can give us the sum total of 1 goal in open play all season, and potentially be earning a 6 figure salary.  Ludicrous
  • The most upsetting thing tonight is I totally missed that we were even playing tonight. I listened to the Brazil v Cameroon game and enjoyed it, even laughed at the curmudgeon that is Chris Sutton. When 8 saw a few messages bemoaning the result I checked. Sadly I wasn't shocked, surprised or that bothered.

Once upon a time a defeat ruined my weekend. Now I feel overcome with apathy. Thanks Thomas for relieving me of the distress. Its quite a thing you've pulled off. Even Roland and the spivs didn't make me so disillusioned.

The published attendance tonight was 12,566. I don't believe that for a minute.  I can only guess that lots of people claimed free tickets then couldn't find people prepared to go. Even if it was correct, it would still be piss poor for a club giving so many freebies away.  Who can blame anyone for not attending though - we never look exciting and we never look like scoring.  It's hardly a winning formula.

As for the match, I thought Clare, Dobson, Sessegnon and the newbies were pretty good tonight. McGillivray, Innis and Morgan were awful. Chuks was very disappointing - looked like he had no energy. Everyone else was a bit meh. The real problem isn't the players though; that's the symptom not the cause. The real problem is deep rooted within the club.

I asked the question so the answer would be without prejudice.  Why do you think there is a culture problem that has been consistent for 2 years with 4 managers and completely different players?

Or don't you think there is one?
  • The highlight of the evening - apart from Ness & Mitchell - was Kish’s eff word live on air 😂😂

Watched the stream, would have been there but left it late to book Valley Express and it was sold out. Did me a big favour.

Second half we did ok, but it was mainly huff and puff, never ever nearing convincing. Even so they missed a number of decent first half chances so the absolute most we deserved was a draw. The Kirk goal was close, would have needed VAR for that, so no blame on the Lino IF he did get it wrong.

MacG is a calamity keeper, got to go at the end of the season. Not having seen recent games did AMB deserve to be dropped? Other than Ness and Mitchell the only other Bright spots were Dobbo, Sess and Clare. Ness and Mitchell both did well, guided through the game by the senior pro next to them leading by example, NOT. Another who go in the summer.

BG has made mistakes but he’s been left high and dry by TS and to compound the weaknesses in the squad has had to contend to numerous injuries to key players. Given proper backing he will get us out of League One, in my humble opinion of course.

Looking forward to Stockport tearing us a new one on Wednesday in front of the expectant millions on terrestrial TV.

Thank goodness the bottom 4 currently look adrift. If just one of them picks up some form then we are in real trouble.

A clueless owner intent on breaking even, a manager with dreadful tactics, a squad lacking in ability and leadership.  No strikers, woeful centre backs.

    It is extra ordinarily bad.

I agree & what I thought at the time as I was pretty level with Kirk as the ball was played.

However, the "highlights" have just 2 chances from us & about 5 or 6 from them. We could have been buried before half time (akin to Derby at the start of the season) but we rode our luck & managed to hang on in there.

But if you start a game of football where you effectively now can play 16 players & you only have 1 recognised striker (and he doesn't come on until after the hour mark) then you ain't going to score many goals nor win many games.

Even when Stockley & Leaburn are back I don't think we will be pulling up many trees.

He's clueless and completely out of his depth. How can he possibly think that was a good performance? If we do get a new owner I hope Garner is out the door immediately

He overeggs it, but we were quite good for the first 20 minutes of the second half. Morgan and Fraser were combining nicely with their set pieces, the weakness in that period being DJ and JRS up front who were contributing very little, hence we created few clear cut chances. I've never been convinced by the idea that DJ is actually a striker, as his goal scoring record doesn't back it up, while JRS has regressed since he joined us.

What a weird game. We started well and had a decent 15 minutes, without creating any clear cut chances. Then Cheltenham had five chances to score in the next two minutes, and missed all of them, hitting the bar twice. It was comical.
We dominated the second half completely, but Macca misjudges the bounce of their long punt upfield, and the rest is history.
Only positives from the night were the performances  of Mitchell, and Ness in particular. Both were pretty solid, and look they could step up at some stage to the giddy heights of tier three football. Oh, and Clare was very good tonight.
    Another day we win that.
Don’t like the booing of the players. They tried at least.

My first home game of the season.

Met an old mate for a pre match beer. Had a good old chat about our days travelling home and away - Tuesday nights in Middlesbrough, getting arrested in Newcastle when we won 4-3 after being 3-0 down, Anglo Italian cup away, etc.

Didnt actually want the game to start and interupt our chat.

"Luckilly" the first half was so abysmally shit we both agreed to fuck off back to the pub at half time and spare ourselves the inevitable result we knew was coming.

So actually had a good night. But fuck off Charlton. And fuck off Garner.

Youngsters at the back were excellent
    Dobbo was Dobbo
Clare and Sessegnon provided pace and impetus Their direct football is the template this shabby squad needs but Garner’s wanking over the possession stats! See the SLP this week for that special brand of crazy🤡🤪
Fraser wheezed around finding a pass or two but looked laboured and indecisive
Morgan tries and tries gives and gives about 50% goes awry some of it spectacularly but he still contributes more than 5 or 6 others put together
    DJ couldn’t be arsed
JRS gives a few champagne runs to little useful outcome and doesn’t get the offside rule
Inniss is a disaster waiting to happen
    MacG made the one error
Garner expects kids and donkeys at the back to pass around like they’re Spanish internationals He insists on playing one footed players on their wrong side He still thinks McGrandles is a footballer and that Charlie Kirk isn’t taking the piss
Garner’s not Charlton’s only problem but he’s one of the biggest
The Kirk offside was clear enough He was loafing as usual
Garner left Clare and Inniss on when both were struggling with injuries If either is unavailable next week that’s on the manager
Garner’s a cut price Adkins without the social media gimmicks

Whilst I can't disagree with the highlighted sentence, the second half was so one-sided it beggared belief.
Cheltenham did absolutely fcuking nothing in the second half and yet punished us for one stupid error.
There are a million things wrong with our club and with tonights performance but "the inevitable result" was more down to our not capitalising on our second half dominance rather than that we replicated our first half showing imvho
