Post-Match Thread: CHARLTON ATHLETIC v CHELTENHAM TOWN / FRIDAY 2nd DECEMBER 2022 7.45pm KO

Disappointment all around as Charlton played the mighty Cheltenham off the pitch, particularly in the second half, only to be undone by a mistake that let the visiting side’s little striker Alfie May in on the counter. Mind you, two consecutive errors in the first half, almost resulted in the same, only to be cleaned up at the last moment. We live on the edge!

Five league games without a win. We’re hapless in front of goal and it’s costing us. Same old story, and something has to give.

Both youngsters, Ness and Mitchell more than held their own and deserve special mention.

Charlton 0 Cheltenham 1

See Garner is still dining out on this.
Unless it's a different style of shyte, I'm struggling to see what he's on about?

  • Only 5 or 6000 thousand to see how crap we were tonight.

The whole country will be able to see on Wednesday.

What a waste of travelling to watch that.

Innis tried to gift them a couple of goals first half, before Macgillvray finally made sure of it

Worst squad in years, maybe ever
  • 16th in league one.

    Again.

    Super.

I had forgot we were even playing - sums up my complete apathy at the moment. Had to rely on an email to tell me the score from my youngest and he's in Colombia!

Garner and Sandgaard can just piss off.

We're not cursed we're the architects of our own downfall - don't create enough chances and when we do we lack composure and it's been the same all season

I'll repeat myself from match thread, we need a new owner who will back his manager, I was one of Sangaards biggest supporters, but please sell up and GO...NOW, cost cutting my arse....GO and give us a fucking chance!

I backed Sandgaard for a long time and believed he was the real deal. It's now apparent he is a chancer who is using the club as a clearing house for family and associates who can't get work anywhere else. I worry about his ulterior motive for getting involved because it certainly wasn't the best interests of Charlton Athletic

Thought we played well bar the innis error, Macca error, and not being able to put the ball in the back of the onion bag. Frustrating

We didn't deserve to lose that. we played some good stuff at times without creating a great deal .
Mitchell was impressive as was Clare but the lack of investment in the transfer window , up front and in defence , is absolutely killing us.
let's hope this so called investor/buyer wasn't there tonight.
I'm pretty sure Garner will not be at the club come the Brighton game.

  • I said it against port vale and I’ll say it again tonight -

you can all sit here and blame sandgaard as much as you like but this squad / team should not be sitting 16th in league 1. Garners tactics are simply not good enough, lose against Stockport on Wednesday and it will probably be goodnight Ben.
  • Good he was there!!

    30th anniversary celebrations - check
Opponents on an abysmal run - check
Baffling selection from Garner - check
First pass/throw always backwards - check
Shite lethargic dreary first half - check
Horrible goal conceded in the 85th minute - check
Toothless scramble to get back in it - check
Opponents wasting every possible minute - check

    At least Garner is consistent

    He has to go

I genuinely believe that Garner like Adkins with the right backing could have been a success here. But it's not going to happen.

Powell and Bowyer both got financial backing to get out of this league. If we don't do that in January we're in a really, really shit spot.

You had to laugh at some of that. Alfie Morgan's vertical shot that hit the Jimmy Seed sign, was a particular highlight.

Hate the lot them. Bar the academy boys that was a disgraceful performance. Someone needs to come in and guts the whole club completely
