I am not a huge fan, but did not know there were such strong negative feelings towards Bonne. Always thought he was a quite honest but limited footballer that knew where the goals were and we got lucky on a transfer fee once upon a time. Fcuk!! BONNEt de Douchebag…3

So much more comes in to a move than just is what is seen on the surface. I wouldnt want to be living in a hotel week in week out with no friends and family around me at that age. They also need to go and fit in with a new group of players all with their own agenda/ego and im guessing this isnt always easy. Yes by all means im assuming most of us would love to be a footballer, but whats to say if we were we would love the game? To some its just a job they are lucky enough to be good at. Ive just turned 35 and in the football world at that age your too old and retiring . . Its a short career for them to set themselves up with . . .you cant blame them if a move doesnt suit what they want. Clubs have a duty to pay the player the sums they signed the contract for . . just as much as the player has a duty to perform to the best of their efforts if selected to play. I dont know anymore info but for the sakes of the Gilbey debate, why would he want to move house out of the London area to go to Lincoln? Makes sense to hold out for a move that suits his lifestyle. if the manager doesnt fancy him and he isn't selected all he can do is train each day and give 100%, the rest is out of his hands.1

Bonne has plenty of suitors, and if I was him, I'd tell cafc to bugger off bearing in mind the abuse he gets.
He wasn't great but he has enough extra pace to create issues for opposing defences.3 -

Looks like I'm in the minority but I think we could do worse than Bonne. I'd still prefer some of the other names like Stockton but he's not as bad as some make out.

He gave an interview to some paper that he couldn't be arsed anymore cos he was shit.
Not so much a revelation as it was a confirmation.5 -

Frankly a bit non-plussed as to whether Bonne signs or not.
For balance on the MB comments, he clarified in a later interview with Richard Cawley:“You’ve got to understand where I have come from. A year before I played [and scored] against Leeds I was playing in front of 1,000 fans at Maidenhead on a cold Saturday afternoon.
“At school I’d hear all about QPR because they were a Premier League team. I’ve even got friends who are QPR fans because of their Premier League days.
“I probably worded it slightly wrongly about my head being turned when I heard they wanted me – I apologise for that.
“But football is a ruthless game and things like this don’t happen to boys like me. I went from non-league to Charlton and then because of that I got an opportunity to go back to the Championship at a club like QPR. Things like that don’t come around often."
I am sure we have all made comments in the past that could have been worded better, not sure the value of reading too much into it, it's not like he downed tools and refused to see out his contract like a certain other striker.

Oxford United could be set to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Macauley Bonne on loan, but face late competition from Bolton according to East Anglian Daily Times reporter Stuart Watson.

yep, seems fair enough to me - its our fault that qpr is a step up not his and words mean f all in the end of the day - what taylor did relegated us and there's no way back from that8

But even without the above clarification, I genuinely don't think the comments were that bad. They were basically "when a club in the league above were interested and offered more money, I was very interested straight away". Of course he was.
Not like he added "and screw Charlton, tinpot tosspots" on the way out. Or refused to play after Covid etc.

Wonder if Bonne is chaff that the club have deployed to mask their real target ?2
