Next manager - Ben Garner confirmed (p256)

Let’s hope they are finalising someone. Bolton and Ipswich already signing players and if we want promotion next season, they’re likely to be two competitors or at least two other ‘big’ clubs in our division that will be looking at similar players to us.0

More to the point, why would any experienced manager come when TS had made quite clear the recruitment of the squad has little or nothing to do with them?carly burn said:Really can't see Warburton coming.
From what I've seen his stock is still pretty high and many think he was harshly treated by QPR.
No way he'd come to this nut house.0 -
You're absolutely right. Plus apparently TS has said that all applicants have to play him on guitar hero, and he gets to slap them with a full salmon if he wins.billysboots said:Think the pool we are fishing in is
Out of work or lower league managers.
Can’t see anyone coming from a good club with TS calling all the shots. Not enough football DNA involved in football decisions.
Get a grip ffs.7 -
That's just a reason for Option 3 rather than a separate option, but I agree. The club has x squad places and a budget of y. The new manager should obviously have a big input on who we get in within those constraints, but I see no reason to release players if the consensus within the recruitment team (hopefully with input from coaches) is that we can do better given whatever the values of x and y are.Covered_End_Lad said:
Option 4 - The club want to aim higher than Conor and don't want to waste a squad place and wages on him?randy andy said:
I think Conor was the only surprise. The others were almost certainly going to be released no matter who the manager was.thetomahawkkid said:
...But someone other than a the new manager has already made decisions as to who to extend and who to release. That all has implications and limitations as to who a new manager can sign to build his squad.ButtleJR said:

Conor being released leads to 3 possible conclusions:
1) The club and player were too far away on the any possible deal, meaning the a contract wouldn't be agreed no matter who the manager
2) A new manager has been identified and has said he doesn't want Conor
3) The club has decided to get rid
Option 3 is the only possibly negative scenario, and then only if there isn't the budget/recruitment to get a a better alternative in.0 -
I see Rob Edwards the forest Green manager now in advanced talks to become new Watford Manager.6
-
Surely if the club and coaches believe we can do better then that is exactly the reason to release players, no?randy andy said:

The mad fool !
He will last two seasons: Summer and Autumn before he loses two games on the bounce and Watford slip down to third, he gets the tin-tac and realizes that it was definitely greener at Forest Green.5 -
Steve Keane's record at Melbourne Victory season 20-21 was terrible. He is down on record as being a manager. as well as C T manager, I think Grant Brebner (ex Victory player) was the last manager They got the wooden spoon, Victorie's worst ever season Cross town rivals City bet then 6--0 and 7--0 in this season. Tony Popovic then took over, for the current season. After a very average start they finished second to City whome they beat 3--0 a month ago.On a record run of 15 undefeated,Likely to be in the play off Grand FinalCallumcafc said:I think Steve Kean got an unnecessarily bad rap while at Blackburn... having said that his CV since isn't exactly inspiring.

Warburton and Beale were both high on our list, no idea how far they have got with either of them.19

@ButtleJR as you had the connection with Thomas Sandgaard from early doors in his tenure I find it interesting to hear what you say whether you're the messenger or if you are joining the dots from what information you accrue.
It makes sense to get the new manager in ASAP as we have Season tickets to sell and players to join the club so the new gang of four can get to work: Thomas and Martin Sandgaard, Steve Gallen and the new manager who will hopefully inspire fans and critics to buy season tickets or at least not give up on the "project".
I assume your dad gets his info from you, (he said he did last season) so I wonder if you can say why Stockley won't be here next season as it will be news to Jayden ! Your dad have said it a couple of times and I wondered who is behind this story ?0 -

I hope this is just newspaper gossip I am sure it was he Or he with Grant Brebner who gave Melbourne Victory thier worst ever season last year gaining the wooden spoon. Beaten 6-0 and 7-0 by cross town rivals City. Fast forward to Victorycurrent standing with Tony Popovic at the helm.A record 15 matches undefeated Second in the table and i HATE to say it may just win the play off final--Popovic is one hundred percent better than S K If only the likes of TS can see itse9addick said:Not sure if this has already been reported & hopefully bollocks, but Steve Kean being linked by the Scottish media

Right hand don't know what the left hand is doing...they are in advanced talks apparently with Warburton, and yet they haven't sacked Bowyer yet, maybe our old mate Mouthall is involved, that would explain a lot...charltonbob said:
