Maybe if people stumped up now and bought a season ticket, then the club might just be able to offload Pardky and get some new talent in......just a thought.

But if everyone did buy a ST for next year before Parky is off-loaded then the board would interpret that as the fans having confidence in him and consequently he'd stay.

  • Has anybody seen the posting on the BBC 606 web site and the proposed takeover.

Does any body belive this as being true.

I do belive that there is something going on behind the seens due to the fact that we have not heared anything from the club re manager players etc.

The players might of course be under contract until 1 June 2009 which I believe was the case in previous years.

The question to ask is why has the club have not mentioned PP future as manager which I find is strange and please Charlton let us all know what is happening soon as this is dragging on and we need to plan for next season and get this great club back where it should be.

    Comments please
  • Do you mean the one about Zabeel being behind it again and Bill Curbishley coming on to the board?

First thing that strikes me is why on earth would they (or anybody) want Bill Curbishley on the board?
Second, it sounds like somebody's conspiratorial imagination willing Curbs back as manager.
No thanks to that; been there, love him to bits; won't hear a bad word, but let's move forwards eh?

Charlton can't let anyone know what is happening (if anything is happening), until it's a done deal. You can't announce a deal until you have one.
Patience is what is required here!

In all seriousness, let's hope something IS happening, as we all need a lift when it comes to Charlton.

Here's another ET. This is off the 606 website :-

I have a family member that is VERY high up within the club.
Peter Varney IS leading a consortium into the takeover of the club. Varney will takeover as chief executive, with Derek Chappel taking the role of deputy chairman.
But here's the exciting part; Bill Curbishly (Alan Curbishlys' brother) will take a role on the board.
And guess who the consortium are, Zabeel Investments! They have put in a £20m bid, which the directors have accepted, and are willing to clear all debt. This has been kept quiet from the media due to the fact that Zabeel didn't like the wide press coverage when the previous deal was going through.
The deal will be completed within the next few days.
    Watch this space!

Do you mean Halloween lookalike brother Bob, or the infamous Iain?

Must admit a perverse satisfaction seeing Dowie's mug after Newcastle lost to Fulham. Who will be stupid enough to hire him next?

There can also be a downside to takeovers.

I give you Portsmouth. They could well start next season on -9 points in administration and their sugar daddy is supposed to have pumped £90 million into the club!

Charlton were taken over by a scandanavian, Irish Arab consortium last night, but it is being kept secret to allow the Charlton Liofe rumour mill to continue att he request of AFKA, who is enjoying the rising levelof traffic fromnational newspapaers. FACT - that makes it true

i thought zabeel insisted on the wide spread press coverage last time. we weren't up for it, but agreed.
maybe something's happening, maybe it's not but i think these rumours are probably rubbish. people reading far too much into things.
