Derby County's administrators have been given an extra month to provide proof of how the Championship club will be funded for the rest of the season.
The English Football League originally asked administrators Quantuma to provide details by 1 February.
But that date has now been pushed back until the beginning of March to allow further talks with potential buyers.

We would feel exactly the same as Derby fans if roles were reversed. I bet if you were on Derby Life when they just missed out on a promotion it would have been full of posts like "if we just invested that little bit more."
At the very minimum there needs to be a separation between what the owner is accountable for and what "the club" is. Morris is no more Derby than Southall was Charlton.0 -
They'll ask for another delay and get it until the end of the season, and they'll find a buyer then, whilst appealing their relegation to League 12

No club should cease to exist. I have some sympathy for derby fans because they can't control what their owner does - lord knows we've been through enough of that. However... the football club has been outright cheating for years, so in my view Boro + Wycombe are entirely entitled and correct for seeking compensation. If the punishment for derby is they have to start again in a lower division, I have absolutely no problem with that.

Interesting if true. Maybe i am doing him an injustice and he is showing a bit of patience in his development and loyalty but I wonder if it would be the same if he wasn't on such a large salary. Or is he holding out for a bigger club?!ForeverAddickted said:0 -

Keep them up, it'll make him managerial hot property in the summer. If he fails to do it, then he'll still get plaudits for even giving Derby a chance and for his "loyalty" to the club (the other stuff will be forgotten)

I wouldn't be that surprised if Derby scrape away from the relegation zone this season .. pity cos if they get relegated I always enjoy a trip to Pride Park .. that is of course if it's not demolished to pay debts and is replaced by an Amazon warehouse and a few 'apartment blocks'0

Not sure I believe that to be honest. He admits he wants to be a Premier League manager yet in the same sentence says he refused to speak to Everton? His boyhood club who are playing in the Premier League. I don't think anyone in their right mind would outright reject that approach nor do I think anyone would have blamed him if he'd spoken to them about the job.
I suspect its much more likely either he wasn't approached at all or had talks and realised he wasn't high on Everton's list and decided to withdraw. He knows coming out saying he rejected their approach gets Derby fans on side and buying into the narrative that's he's saving the club and also saves face if he was indeed overlooked. And he knows Everton aren't going to come out and challenge what he says so probably feels like an easy win for him.
What I still don't get is how Derby are apparently struggling to stay afloat and yet paying this guy 80k a week. With some of the players who have departed Derby this window I wouldn't be surprised if Rooney was earning a figure similar to what their entire first team squad currently earns. I find it really hard to believe Rooney is integral to the sale of the club or that him leaving would put off any bidders who are considering a bid, if the figures on his salary are correct I'd have driven him to Goodison Park myself if I were the administrators.

£30m of that is to Revenue and Customs.
Plus ‘other debts’.
I can’t see an offer of £26m being enough. I would be an angry taxpayer if I end up subsidising Derby to the tune of £20m. This is money that was deducted from employees FFS.

As they did not own the stadium it appears to me that they were trading in full knowledge that they could not pay their debts and were therefore trading illegally. Someone should be going to prison.1 -
Let’s not forget that the man who led them into administration still owns the stadium that he values at £80m. It cannot be right that he is allowed to keep it. He knew they were racking up the bills.

As Revenue and Customs are preferential creditors for the PAYE and NIC debt of £30m, surely the offer of £26m does not even touch the sides.
I think the public deserves to know how much of their money is being thrown away.4
