Correct, 20 games left at 3 points per game.Jonniesta said:
I may be being dense, but how are there 90 points to play for? 60, surely?CafcWest said:So many saying “why bother” we have no chance of the playoffs…we are only 13 points off with 90 to play for…I’d say playoffs are unlikely BUT not over yet. I think brain dead is a tad too harsh mate, they’re just not good enough. I get the rationale behind the statement about points to play for - it’s 60 points to play for btw, not 90. However, a team 26 games into the season having looked this mediocre doesn’t suddenly do enough to get to the 75pt mark with one or two loan additions of Prem youngsters. It’s definitely not going to happen. We could force the top 10 at most. The most important thing is not to get sucked into a relegation scrapChunes said:
Mathematically I agree with you, but does this team look like it can go on a run, even with 2-3 top quality additions? They don't have the grit and fortitude, most of them are brain-dead.CafcWest said:So many saying “why bother” we have no chance of the playoffs…we are only 13 points off with 90 to play for…I’d say playoffs are unlikely BUT not over yet. I guess it's a better situation for us if the deal fell through during a medical, rather than first training session.1

The point is we haven't got any now, regardless of where they came from.killerandflash said:
But then that's nothing new. Neither Paul Mortimer nor Paul Williams came through our youth system, we've always picked up good players either from non league or that have been released by other clubsCafc43v3r said:
Neither are a lot of the current 19-21s.killerandflash said:
Neither Aribo nor Dijksteel are academy products, there were signed aged 18/19SouthWest_Addicks said:
This. Bowyer had Aribo, Grant, Doughty & Dijksteel during his management period. At some point all the penny pinching from Roland and ESI was going to catch up with us. You had hoped the likes of Dempsey and Vennings would be breaking into the first team, but they are not good enough. Unfortunately, we are in that transition period when we have a weak group of 19 to 22 year olds, but good 18s. I am certain if anyone from the 23s were good enough to be in the first team, they would be.Cafc43v3r said:.Because of Roland, and almost continued 3rd tier football we haven't got the "youngsters" to play. We have got a crop of 19-21 year olds to play.
We have got some very high potential U18s and first year pros but so few are ready at that age. We have probably had 4 or 5 in the last 40 years that are. Even Parker, who by most messures is the best player to ever come through our youth set up, wasn't ready at 17/18. It can do them more harm than good.
It's the group of Claydon, Wasim, Ness etc that should be knocking on the door now. We know why they aren't.
Only one who might play between now and May is Aaron Henry and hes only 18 i think.
Slightly younger, but picked up from Maidstone
……and dropped off in West London.0 -

I don't think brain-dead is that harsh. How else do you explain us constantly being offside from free-kicks, our corners endlessly hitting the first man, playing short free-kicks in the last kick off a half/game when we're losing, then the ref blows the whistle to end it... Giving away silly fouls when we're losing and basically managing the game for the opposition... There are more examples not coming to me in this moment but such basic things that are all about thinking and not really about playing.cabbles said:

Yes, it’s frustrating, and there are definitely things we can do better. But talent, or lack of it, for me, is the key problemChunes said:

Well I'm very surprised as I'm sure failing a medical at Charlton means a certain contract as we only sign crocked players !!!1

I think talent is the least of our problems, we don't play Pep's barca every week but we often make them look better than they are. We constantly do the basics wrong.cabbles said:

Like you I liked the look of Oguntayo.Henry Irving said:Oguntayo is a young leftwing back bit has only just returned from injury.
Hearing another loan deal fell through due to the medical.
If we are matmatically safe there would be no harm in giving him some games towards the end of the season.1 -

But if they were better players, surely they would do the basics better. I get what you mean, but if players keep making the same mistakes, game after game, I start to question their talent.Cafc43v3r said:

Defeat today and I think the team will have the crowd right on their backs0 -

13 points off the play offs but just 6 off relegation. So if top 6 is a faint possibility then bottom 4 is a much bigger one.CafcWest said:So many saying “why bother” we have no chance of the playoffs…we are only 13 points off with 90 to play for…I’d say playoffs are unlikely BUT not over yet. Lose today & we drop at least 2 places. Then there are games in midweek......and we then don't play our next match until Monday 31st. By then we could be 5th bottom.1 -

No, no it's not. The bottom 3 look pretty much down to me then there are 5 teams below is. Not all of them will get enough points to go past us. I'm not defending how poor we've been this season but to suggest we are in a relegation battle is laughable.golfaddick said:

He didn’t say that though did he? Golfie wasn’t wrong, relegation is as likely as play offs. Neither are happening.Todds_right_hook said:

How did Paddy Lane (32) get on today for Fleetwood? Impressed?
Been banging the drum for us to sign him up for a couple of months now. Think he offers something we don’t have atm.4 -
            I'm surprised he's 32.
Played well first half and in spurts the second.4
