Dream or no, Charlton got the 3 points. Real supporters wake up submerged.ricky_otto said:

Quite understandable from our point of view, but from the players...?bigstemarra said:I see these loan signings as trials to compete for a full time move in time for next season which is surely way more sensible than temporary signings which move on in May and thus leave another gap that needs filling in the summer transfer window.
They may or may not work out, but I think that this is a sensible approach for a January window given that we clearly need yet another rebuild in the summer if we are to become a serious competitor for promotion next season.
Hopefully a few more incoming and some of the deadwood moved on will hope us get closer to this goal.
Will Castillo want to move from Chelsea to us ? Yes, he might be out of contract in the summer but will he really be wanting to play in League 1 - I'm sure he has loftier aspirations. And that is the problem with taking players on loan from The Premiership, especially from "top 6" teams. They have been used to big salaries & expectations to be playing in big stadiums. I've not yet seen us sign a player on loan from Chelsea (Maartsen, Da Silva), Arsenal (Mavididi, Bielik) Liverpool (Millar) or West Ham (Cullen) that we then sign permanently.
All is does is make the summer "rebuild" even harder as we are continually churning players.1 -

Big stadiums? Biggest he has played at is Birmingham, similar to The Valley, where he played 3 times. Before that Den Haag (15K) and Jong AZ (1K !).golfaddick said:

Loftier ambitions - not done anything at mediocre Birmingham and the odd loan to tiny European teams so unlikely.
Whatever his salary now is irrelevant once his contract ends and assuming Chelsea are not giving him another. I very much doubt he has made enough to retire, even coming through Chelsea.
Plenty of players from big 6 teams sign for L1 clubs every season.
Loan gives us a chance to take a look and for him to take a look, he may even have a perm contract agreed subject to min number of games or something.
There is literally nothing about this loan move to moan about.11 -

There’s plenty we would all be happy to see leave on permanents to be honest. Most of the players have had a chance to impress and failed.ForeverAddickted said:

If it's a loan with option to buy, he'll have obviously said he's in.golfaddick said:

I think JS has shown he can play the role of a more attacking wing back so I would be very surprised if he were let go.addick1956 said:
Except it kinda makes our wingers redundant. So the 2 wow signings of Jan2021 and Summer 2021, namely Jaiyesimi and Kirk are being made redundant. The other , Stockley is now a walking wounded and I think that isn't just a niggle. Sir Clive had a similar problem to begin with and had to retire eventually.johnnybev1987 said:Who exactly were people expecting us to sign? we need to be realistic, two new signings and not on deadline day. Whats not to like? I will wait and see how they fit in regardless of previous fitness, although i think Purrington is decent at this level but if we want to upgrade a pacey left back is perfect just think of Da Silva & Aflie Doughty, if we can get someone on the right who can do similar perfect.0 -

To be honest mate, just because one player retires with an injury, doesn’t mean everyone is going to suffer the same, might not even be the same injury!!, pleased your not my doctor!!😂addick1956 said:

Yes agreed, that’s the absolute obvious ones, probably some more with some thought. Obviously we can’t just ditch everyone in one fail swoop, as much as I’d be happy to. Don’t think any of this list would be missed at all.CharltontillidieCOYR said:

Souare will go I think. He has been worse in the games I've seen him than Gunter and co.0

i m o Morgan is still worth persevering with .. as with soooo many of ours, consistency (good not bad lol) is his big issuepaulfox said:

Oh god Lincs, please don’t start with Morgan again. I appreciate your opinion, but IMO as I may have mentioned once or twice😂, he just don’t cut it.Lincsaddick said:

He has had 2/3 years at first team level and not progressed and if anything gone backwards he really is just not good enough unfortunately waste of a squad space if we do want to aim top 2/6 he cant be playingLincsaddick said:

I know what you're saying but he's still just 21.. probably 'promoted' to the first Xl too soon which led to expectations that have yet to come to fruition .. still, as you say, there is so little scope to give youngsters development time in a very competitive professionCharltontillidieCOYR said:

What is an attacking CDM?DOUCHER said:Purrington has been progressively more anonymous over Jacksons reign and now he's stopped popping upo with goals he doesn't offer a great deal and well, Souare i just don't see it so i can see the logic in this whereas DJ, Leko and CBT have a job share on the right - an attacking CDM in and possibly another stiker and offloading Kirk and we should be stronger than before the changes surely.0 -
A good window would also be as mentioned above, shipping a lot of them out
Watson
Morgan
Kirk
Gunter
Davison
souare
I think if all of the above moved on that might light a fire up a few of the rest of them for next season2 -
Not sure its been mentioned already but Pete O'Rourke has officially linked us with Marcus Browne now so must be fairly close I suppose.2
