Crewe play a different shape to when he was there last season and have been using wing-backs. They have made contact with us regarding a loan but it does seem a bit bizarre given I'm not sure how he'd fit into their side at the minute.

Perhaps they're using wingbacks as they currently don't have any wingers though?

 Agreed. I would try and send him to league 2 to a team that plays 3-5-2 with him playing in the Lee role

Why a League Two team?

Because it's an unfamiliar role to him and taking a step back (lower league) will help him familiarise himself in the role with a bit less pressure on him.

what if we send him to Fleetwood and he keeps them up at our expense 

There is more chance of me becoming the next PM, than Charlton getting relegated

This. His family and West Ham screwed us, I doubt Jermain Defoe had any real say in the move.

I am really starting to think that this is it for our club at least for the next 10 or so years.  There isn't really any indication that anyone that can afford the expenditure for a serious push and who understands football is interested.

Could we not get Juan Mata on loan from Man Utd.  He's a good player that rarely plays.

I welcome Aneke back.  I think he’s decent, but questions remain over the length of his contract, his fitness and whether or not he, and the players we have to add around him are capable of promotion.

Like you, I see little point in adding this month.  If we go long term like we have Aneke, are we just going to be sitting here this time next year realising they’re only as good as what we have now, all fed up?  DJ is a good example.  He’s okay, but he’s not a player capable of winning you promotion imo.  I appreciate he’s being asked to play in a new position, but I just don’t get excited by him.  We all know Kirk hasn’t worked out.  I would question making Lee permanent based on his contribution.  I think Gilbey is a tad overrated by many.  CBT was only ever a squad player, yet off the back of one night in Gillingham right in the derge of the Adkins era people seemed to think he was an answer.  He’s now contracted to the end of next season.

Washington, works his balls off and is decent, but again, a man you see getting promotion?  Stockley I like, but he has a tendancy to lose it and now has this hip niggle.

We go further back in the pitch and we’re inadequately covered for promotion winning talent at wing back if that is our preferred formation under Jackson.  Pearce’s time is pretty much up.  Famewo is okay, but any deal needs to be weighed up against the sort of wages he thinks he’s worth.

Don’t you trust Thomas and his astute financial wizardry…i.e spending £300k for somebody that left for free 6 months earlier.
